Zuleikha Robinson is the British actor who portrays Amara on ABC's Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.

Biography

Zuleikha Robinson was born on June 29, 1977 in London, England to a Burmese-Indian-Malay mother and English father.[1][3] At fifteen, she developed a penchant for acting that eventually led her to Los Angeles, where she studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.[1]

Her first feature was a supporting role in Mike Figgis' unconventional 2000 feature film, Time Code. It was the first film to be shot in a single continuous take, using four separate digital cameras to follow the movements and dialogue of each actor, shooting them in real time, continuously for ninety-three minutes, the length of one digital video cassette. She was series regular portraying Yves Adele Harlow in Chris Carter's 2001 FOX drama, The Lone Gunmen, a spin-off from The X-Files featuring a trio of computer hacking conspiracy geeks.[1]

Zuleikha's first lead role brought her to Morocco, playing a nineteenth-century Arabian princess named Jazira, opposite Viggo Mortensen and Omar Sharif, in Disney's eighty-million budgeted 2004 Western epic, Hidalgo, directed by Joe Johnston. Following this, she traveled to London, Venice and Luxembourg to star as Al Pacino's daughter in Michael Radford's 2004 film version of Shakespeare's, The Merchant of Venice, alongside Jeremy Irons and Joseph Fiennes, for Sony Classics.[1]

She continues to build a name as an actor in roles like Fox Searchlight Pictures' 2005 film, based on the best-selling novel, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Jhumpa Lahiri, The Namesake, opposite Kal Penn, the 2005 historical drama Rome as a brothel madam Gaia, the police procedural as well as fantasy filled New Amsterdam starring as homicidal detective Eva Marquez and the famed and ever popular television drama spanning six season, TV series with her character, Ilana, first introduced in the sixth episode of the fifth season.
