|First appearance:||"The Quiet Voice"|
Sina is based on the character of the same name from the Disney film Moana.
Before First CurseSina is a seamstress who lives on the island of Motunui with her husband Tui, their daughter Moana, and her mother Tala who is also the chief. The island is surrounded by a protection spell that prevents anyone from leaving, so Tala enforces laws so that no one will swim far enough out beyond the shore to hit the protection spell; however, Moana is drawn to the ocean. One day, Sina arrives on the beach to see a confused Moana speaking to Tui and Tala. Sensing that something important has happened, Sina asks to be caught up to speed and discovers that Moana, who snuck out, was able to swim past the protection spell without injury. As such, Tala believes Moana has been chosen by the goddess Te Fiti to find her son, Maui, who is prophesied to break the protection spell with his magic Fish Hook, but Tui refuses to let Tala send Moana out on her own. Sina sides with Tui instead of her mother, as she believes Moana is too young and is certain that Te Fiti will keep them safe until she is old enough to take care of herself, but Tala secretly goads Moana to leave without her parents' permission. ("The Quiet Voice")
- In the Disney film, Sina is Tala's daughter-in-law. However, in Once Upon a Time, she is her daughter.
