  • I don't mind some community consenus; however, a Fanon Board for Seasons 8 and beyond cannot coexist with any seasons re-writing as it's "8" and beyond.

As of now, the season 7 fanon threads are closed. A discussion has to be formed to alleviate this. It's like posting a thread on the Spoilers Board (though there are no spoilers anymore). It's sort of "meh", but it simply breaks a simple deductive judgement.

Just some sort of consensus formation as I don't have to hinder activity.

    • Considering how season 7 was ultimately received, it would make sense for some to say 'I didn't like what it ultimately had to offer so this is what I can do'. However, I see your point. The board was opened to expand beyond the series with season 8, maybe a second season of Wonderland or any other subseries set in the different realms. Like it or not, season 7 is fully canon and intergrated into the Once Upon a Time mythology, regardless of how many worms it had to open to get there.

    • I think that this board should only be for Season Eights and other spinoffs that come from it, I do think that the S7 threads should be reopened and sent to the off topic fun board and make sure that we explain that no S7s are allowed on this board.

    • They should be moved to off-topic. It was even said on the original thread:

The only real rule is that one: you must fully take in account the series. We have to take in account the series finale, the death of Weaver, the merging of realms, Emma missing Henry's new adventures, etc... But also all previous facts like Eva died poisoned by Cora, Aladdin was the Savior, Gothel was defeated after the events of 720, etc...

As you long as you respect the established canon of the series, you can do whatever you want.

Therefore they are not following the rules so must go to Off-Topic.

    • I agree. There's nothing wrong with wanting to rewrite Season 7 and there is another board on the wiki where people can post their thoughts. Let's leave this board as a "series continuation".

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I also agree. While I see that some people have problems with Season 7, the point of the board and the contest itself is to expand the universe with new seasons and spin-offs, not to redo the show

    • I think rewrites of the seventh season or any of the seasons should be fully approved as long as they follow the established logic. An example, an inverted story, with heroes being villains and villains being heroes, a Light One instead of Dark One, would not be something so strange, would it? A story where all realms were affected by First Curse. There are several possibilities and as long as you follow the main concepts of the show, it would be okay to leave it that way.

And also not necessarily rewrite the show, you may well create a story of the characters that appeared in the series following another logic. An example, Camelot, create a story based on the legends of King Arthur in which Arthur really was a hero and faced Mordred and Morgan le Fay and had no fix on being the destroyer of darkness, what would be the problem of creating this?

You don't like a part of the story could be just a chance you could change it. I, for example, would add Poseidon and the other gods in the Underworld and Hades plot. Or Poseidon (god) be the father of Ursula (non-goddess) and put her name in honor of another Ursula, who is a goddess.

    • I strongly disagree with what you are saying here, that is not following the logic of OUAT that is just changing a bunch of things, the rules of the thread that created it are you have to respect the whole show and none of that is respecting the show, I am perfectly fine with the people making a S7 but if you make a an alternate season you should respect everything before that.

Now I should probably defend my Once Upon a Time Retold as being allowed under contest rules. That is written as a spinoff of Once Upon a Time, including my S8 and Oz (and a future spinoff) and is simply showing another way the story could have gone, with recasting due to "time restraints for the actors" and to better fit the new roles.

    • The board is titled "Season 8 and Beyond", therefore anything that does not fall under a continuation of the first seven seasons of Once, a second season of Wonderland, or some other sort of spinoff series, should not be on the board. That being said, people can do rewrites of Season 7 or whatever, but it should go under Off Topic (unless someone has an arguement that it fits on one of the other boards better).

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • The board is titled "Seasons 7--Not Within the Feasible Bounds of the Board"

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • If the problem is the name of the board, you could just change it to "Fanfictions" or "Fan Stories".

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I disagree with that, this board was created because of a thread with clear rules, we need to keep the threads with the rules of that original one.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • When we start this project, the point of it was to create fanfics and fan seasons, yes, but fanfics and fan seasons which go beyond the end of the series. It includes all S8, S9, S10, etc... but also Wonderland S2, S3, etc...

Which means that all these new stories have to take in account the complete canon of the series, whatever are our opinions about some seasons/plots.

As many people pointed it out already, we're here to expand the universe based on what we have. Not to rewrite stuff we don't like that.

So yeah, any S7 rewrite should go under "Off Topic".

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Why don't we just put AU stories on Fanfiction.net or Archive or make a section for them on here?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I think we have a consensus on this. Can we move and reopen those threads?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I've moved all the threads to Off-Topic FunĀ :)
