    • THREE CHARACTERS FROM THE LITTLE MERMAID RETURNING!

             3VwHwJ2.jpg

We've got two returns and one addition to the guest cast of "Once Upon a Great Adventure"! Recently, IMDb has been casting Gil McKinney and Merrin Dungey to return as their original characters, but they are actually their Wish Realm version! They are both confirmed to appear in the first episode, "The Beginning of the Adventure", and it is not known if they will keep appearing.

Samuel E. Wright, Sebastian's voice actor, is the addition of the guest cast, playing his iconic character Sebatian, Triton's right hand. He's supposed to appear in the first episode, and he is currently talking with the showrunner of his possible promotion.

When asked about her role, Oprah said: "It's a cool character; she has a backstory with Daniel Francis' Dr. Facilier and I'm happy to portray her. I voiced Eudora in 2009's "The Princess and the Frog", so I've got experience".

I have! I finally managed to read the first half of the spin-off, and it was really, really good.

All the "mini adventures" the heroes had (with the Evil Queen, Wish Wonderland, Princess Thalia, etc) have been amazing. Tiana is one of my favorite characters and you certainly did her justice! I'm also loving Wish Ariel and her friends. I always wanted the show to do a Little Mermaid arc XD

    • The episode itself was pretty good. Milori being in love with Clarion kind of came out of nowhere and went nowhere, but all in all I enjoyed it.

That said, I do have a little bit of feedback overall -- your writing style is more conducive to a novel than a script. In a novel, we're often told what the character is thinking. (For example, you might see something to the effect of, "'Yes, I'm ready,' Hermione said, although truthfully she was not," in a novel.) However, on television and in movies, the viewers only know what is said out loud or shown. Your scripts have a lot of content that someone watching it as a real episode would not know. For example, the opening paragraph explains that "Avalon was a realm of the Fairy Tale Land hidden from the human eye, where fairies used to live." But this isn't ever said aloud; we only know that because we've read the script. Does that make sense?

My original plan was to explain everything in a potential movie.

I made a poll in my movie's thread, see it here. The movie would include:

      • Clarion's plan to overthrow Ilsa
      • What happened to Clarion's family
      • Milori's relationship with Clarion, and if he loved Mary or not
      • Ilsa's plan to stop Caillech

Those who get unhappy endings might find happy beginnings in the afterlife (if they die) or in Earth. But there'll be deaths, I can confirm that. And there's a twist that I'm not going to confirm in the finale, but I'll leave some clues to make it obvious. It might come out to play in the second season of the spin-off.

I've planned her backstory, but there's no room for it. Maybe it might be mentioned, but as of right now, nop. The second season may have room for it.

    • TRIVIA

      • Eric's funeral from "The Beginning of the Adventure" is based on House Tully's traditional funeral from "A Song of Ice and Fire" and its TV show "Game of Thrones".
      • Syrena was originally going to die in the fourth episode, but after some users liked the character, the showrunner decided to keep her alive, and since then, she has became the recurring characters with the most appearances, followed by Arista and Vanessa
      • Nook wasn't going to be in the main cast at the beginning of the project due to timeline issues, but after it was fixed, he indeed joined the main cast.
        • Odie's starring capacity was a last minute decision too
      • "The Sleeping Beauty" was originally going to have more importance. The same thing happened with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves"'s story.
      • "The Spy"'s flashback could've been either Fairy Mary or Odie meeting Eudora.
      • Jack was also close to be a recurring character.
      • The creator confirmed that a twist will be hinted in the finale.
      • The show was renewed for a second season, set to air after the eighth season of Once Upon a Time.
      • Other stories that could've appeared were "Brave" and the Disney Fairies franchise, but there was no room for "Brave" and the Fairies.

      0bpF1IV.jpg

      By Matheus Ribeiro

When I first heard about this spin-off, I was a bit worried about one thing: the plot. Tiana needs to rescue Naveen and teams up with Captain Hook, Ariel, Fairy Mary and Mama Odie to save him from Doctor Facilier. It seemed - and it is - a simple plot, so simple that could be sorted out in 1 or 2 episodes, and I was afraid that the plot would complicate itself too much. And, unfortunately, it happened.

When I read the season premiere, I was instantly hooked by its plot, and it remained in that way... Until the sixth episode of the season. After that, the plot completely lost itself, to the point that, when we finally got to the season finale, Naveen wasn't rescued at all, thus making this entire journey pointless. It really disappointed me. Another complain that I have - while this is not something that made me take points - was how connected it was to Once Upon a Time. It has episodes that, if you didn't watched the latest season of Once Upon a Time, you wouldn't understand a thing, like the one with Wish Regina, Grace and Jefferson. The last complain that I have about the season is a huge one: the characters. Some characters seemed like generic versions of each other and, some of them had childish attitudes like all the time, with Flounder outstanding as one of the worst characters I've seen on my entire life. It also had lots of characters with zero development.

And while it had all those major problems, it also had lots of qualities. Tiana, Ariel, and mainly, Doctor Facilier, were amazingly handled. Facilier's reveal in the fifth episode of the season was incredible, in a way that he wasn't handled in the seventh season of the main show. Syrena was also an incredible addition to this universe and, I really wish to see more from her. I also enjoyed visiting different places on the huge universe of the show. The Storybrooke scenes were really cool. The great adventure of their lives had an awesome and consistent start, that was probably my favorite of the entire spin-off. Another part of the story that was well-handled was the Tiana-Hook-Ariel love triangle. It didn't felt forced, or anything like this. It felt natural and certainly well done. Another thing that was well done was the Syrena and Arista romance. It felt natural and I was heartbroken when Arista died. She was a really interesting character and I wish we had seen more from her.

With all that said, let's see what's next on the Once Upon a Time universe with the latter half of season 8 and the second season of Once Upon a Great Adventure, that leaves me wondering: Is a second season really necessary? Guess we'll find out soon.

      FINAL GRADE:
        3.5/5.0

        3,5/5,0

Matheus, not trying to be rude but... aren't you doing a literal cross-over in Wonderland 2?
You can see Wonderland 2 without having watched Wonderland, or OUAT. It doesn't mention OUAT events or anything like this

      Yeah... I guess.

It's not like you have to read 809 to understand that WJefferson died and WRegina and WGrace want to revive him, or to know that WZelena is the queen of WWonderland. Plus, who'd read GA without reading S8?

Well, anyone could do It. Also, as a reader, I would think the story is incomplete if I didn't read 809

      Sure...

My whole point on all of this is: there is no problem on having connections. It is normal. The problem is on leaning on these connections. A spin-off should stand out as its own story, not as a complement to the main story

      It's not like it's a professional spin-off that's going to be aired on TV. It's a fanfic.

    • Hey guys! Yesterday, 9 years ago, "The Princess and the Frog" was aired in cinemas all over the world, and to celebrate that, I've decided to open a spoiler room, where you can ask anything (not too spoilery, of course :P) of the second season of "Once Upon a Great Adventure".

I totally forgot to post this yesterday, I'm sorry!

    • Any hints on the main cast? -- Schroeswald

I can confirm that members from the main cast will be returning, indeed. I can confirm that a character from the first season of Once Upon a Great Adventure, billed as co-starring, will be billed as starring in the second season!

Anything on Odie and the woman who appeared to take her? -- Winged Pig

I left some clues of the Mysterious Woman's identity on the second half of OUAGA, and we will indeed see why she kidnapped Odie, and it also seemed like she had a grudge against Facilier, and we'll explore both things in S2.

Is Doctor Facilier returning in Season Two? -- RedGlasses20

Yes! Daniel Francis' Dr. Mackenson Facilier is going to return in the second season in a recurring role!

    • TWO NEW STARS JOIN THE SECOND SEASON OF 'ONCE UPON A GREAT ADVENTURE', AND A COMEBACK
      gReMzkgm.jpg

Breaking news! "Once Upon a Great Adventure" is coming back in 2019, and we already have the first three stars that are going to be in as three prominent characters through the next great adventure, but we've already seen one of them.

And that is no other than Brett Dalton, who played Jake from "Jake and the Neverland Pirates", now as starring instead of co-star. The death of his character (or not?) at the finale of the first season was very confusing, because as a back-up pirate not related to magic, how could he dissapear into dust? "Everything will be answered throughout the season", said Dalton.

As of the two new additions, American actress Frances Conroy and Australian actor Cody Fern shall join the series in the second season. When they were asked about their characters, this is what they said:
Conroy: My character -- whose casting name is Sophie -- has an interesting twist that I think fans will like.
Fern: My character's casting name was Dewin Brenhinol, who has a mysterious and interesting past and an epic love story with another character.

The second season of "Once Upon a Great Adventure" is expected to premiere somewhere around May 2019, but there is no offiicial release date yet.

    • ED SHEERAN AND LOGAN BROWNING CAST AS NEW CHARACTERS
      Bvqt88T.jpg

A few days ago, it was reported that Frances Conroy, Cody Fern and Brett Dalton would be in the second season of Once Upon a Great Adventure with main roles. And now, through his wikia account, creator Truest Believer has revealed that American actress Logan Browning and British singer Ed Sheeran would join the cast of Once Upon a Great Adventure with a guest starring capacity. A fan has earlier taken a photo of them in the "golden beach" of Kapalua in Hawaii, and this was further confirmed today. Browning's character is named Fos, but Sheeran's was not revealed.

      Logan Browning has tweeted this:
"So excited to be here! I'm so glad filming has started!!! 😜😜😜 #ouatgreatadventure #season2 @IMBrettDalton @edsheeran.

In an earlier #spoilerroom, showrunner Truest Believer revealed that we'll see again the Mysterious Woman of the finale of the first season of the spin-off along with Dr. Mackenson Facilier, so it's also safe to assume that we'll see Oprah Winfrey's Mama Odie again.

There haven't been any clues of Mekia Cox, Colin O'Donoghue, JoAnna Garcia-Swisher and Kathy Bates in the filming locations, but it is known that ABC has other filming locations, like the Blackness Castle near Edinburgh, Scottland.

The second season of "Once Upon a Great Adventure" will premiere somewhere around May 2019.
