  • Why does the Dagger gives Alice instructions about how becoming The Guardian, when we know since S5 that the Darkness does everything in order to continue its job corrupting people and getting more and more power?

Alice is just hearing things...because the writer should know the Darkness is all about corrupion and self-preservation.

I was thinking it had more to do with the way Merlin tethered the darkness to the dagger, and that it'd be the dagger calling Alice to it, rather than the darkness. Although, I guess that contradicts how the dagger calls the dark ones to it... unless it's the darkness! Convolution...

The Dagger called Emma and it was seemingly to use it.

To be fair to the writers, the HG magic/Darkness probably wants a consistent host and to be used so, perhaps it would be fine being contained in a vessel who uses it for good.

I guess it is the dagger then, because it's still Excalibur and maybe it wants to get rid of the Darkness once and for all, too. I mean, it's quite a forced explanation and I'm sure that the writers didn't pay enough attention to this detail but it could be a reasonable explanation. Anyway, I still have some doubts about the figure of the Guardian, that was introduced out of nowhere in this season while is quite an important person.
