  • The title says it all. What is your favourite season/arc and why?

    For me, its probaby 4B.

    Pros

    • 3 Amazing villains, perfect balance of new characters and core characters, consistent theme throughout arc (morality, good & evil), amazing finale, learning about the Author mythology, darker tone, return of old characters (August + Zelena)

    Cons

    • Ursula left too quickly and had the weakest backstory, unanswered questions (STILL don't know Lily's father), didn't see Queens of Darkness in Alternate Universe, No Maleficent origin story

    • Either 3B, 4B or the whole season 6 (you can't split it into two halves only in many sub-arcs).

      - 3B: Zelena and all the Oz stuff, (even though they could add much more namely: The wicked witches of North and East,  The Nome King, and Dorothy, but she would be weird helping them since Tink helped them against Pan, Snow helped against Regina, Hercules helped against Hades...

      - 4B: Great villians, the author... + Is Walt Disney canon as an author and if so, how did would he know about Snowwhite and the EQ, I get how he knew about Briar rose, Pan ,Rumple since that already happened. Maybe he mae a deal with Rumple to see into the future and tell him the greatest story ever to happen if so what did Rumple get out of it?

      - season 6: Great mini-arcs, great new characters (Hyde, Aladdin, Tiger lily, The Tin man, Gideon...), Many great villians: The BF, Jafar, Hyde or Jekyll, the real EQ...)...

    • 6- I love the Savior/Black Fairy storyline as well as the Split Queen arc and all the mini arcs. There is also a big spoilery reason why I love this season so much.

3B- I love the Zelena storyline as well as her rivalry with Regina, the Missing Year flashbacks, and the Captain Swan development.  This arc also has my favorite mid-season premiere and my favorite season finale which also happens to be my favorite episode

    • Personally I'd say the first three seasons. Loved the origin stories, emotional grit, and epic twists. Although there were still family troubles back in S2, the episodes Manhattan through Welcome to Storybrooke, still do remain some of the show's best work. Cora's origin backstory has to be favorite of all time and her death episode really was spot-on. I also enjoyed S6 so far as it is connecting back to all seasons while developing new characters and storylines.

Holy crap, I agree on those cons so much. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one who wanted to see them in the AU. It would've been badass and interesting. I felt they dispersed way too quickly and Ursula's story was just plain sad. Maleficent's was too, but Ursula's not only made me feel real depressed, but I pretty much hated Hook from there. Same with Snowing that following episode for what had happened to Maleficent. Though I will say Lily was a great addition and us as fans are still waiting for that story to be resolved.

    • For me, it was 3 and 5a. My only real complaints were not enough Oz mythology explored and a misuse of Tinkerbell. I kinda wish they'd stretched out both of Season 3's arcs so Neverland would be the focus of all the third season and Oz could've been the focus of season 4. I'd then let Camelot be Season six after season five deals with an Author arc.

Yes... Season 1 and 2 should be the same, the whole season 3 about Neverland, season 4 about Oz, season 5 should be A-queens of darkness, B the author and them and the finale like it was (with frozen stuff completely left out, they would even have time for more Ursula backstory, and Lily would discover who her father was... So what I'm saying is that Frozen stuff was a complete waste of precious time to deal with more important stuff (QOD,The Author, Heroes and villians).

    • I didn't mind it really, but I suppose it wasn't necessary. If Camelot was Season six, I would've taken out Merida and Dark Hook.

I agree with Dark hook. But Merida would do well if it was all season about Camelot.

    • I suppose, if you kept the story focused on her grudge with Arthur. Merlin would also live, or at the very least be given a better exit.

The whole Camelot arc could've been so much better had it been fleshed out and maybe a whole season. Emma losing herself and having to crawl her way back, Merlin, Camelot mythology, etc. Dark Hook cheapened the storyline for the sake of love, which we already knew that Emma loved him.

    • Seasons 3B, 2A (1-9), 1B (8-22) and 6B (11-22) are my favorites in no particular order.

The arcs that I thought were good but could've been better are 3A, 2B (10-22), 4A and 1A in no particular order.

The arcs that I thought were okay were 6A (1-10) 5A and Wonderland (if we are counting that). Not to say these arcs were bad, but they had a lot of problems.

Which leaves 5B and 4B as the worst arcs, but I found the former to be worse than the latter.

      So overall - 3 = 2 = 1 > 6 > Wonderland = 4 > 5

    • My favorite season is Season 1 because that's what started the show and made me fall in love with it in the first place. Most of the characters were at their best, and writing was definitely better than subsequent seasons. It also really stands out when compared to Seasons 2-6 due to the lack of magic in Storybrooke, and the lack of Emma believing. It tells a nice, season-long story made up of a bunch of good, smaller stories put together - which is how I think a show should be structured. I enjoyed all the small town stories, the Kathryn "murder" mystery, the scandals with Mary Margaret and David, the rivalries between Emma & Regina and Mary Margaret & Regina, and even the filler episodes were nice for showing us more fairytale backstories for characters who aren't as central to the plot - like Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, the Mad Hatter, and so on.

My favorite arc would have to be Season 5B. I'm rather surprised to see that 5B isn't all that popular because I personally thought the show was at its best since the first season. Though I'm not a fan of why they went to the Underworld or that stupid red filter they put on Storybrooke, I found myself enjoying all of the little plots with reuniting with the dearly and not-so-dearly departed characters, I thought Hades was a fun villain, and Zelena's redemption arc was extremely well done. There was little things too like Mary Margaret deciding to become Snow White again, David and James finally coming head-to-head, Henry's author abilities being somewhat relevant that I liked too. Also the Rumbelle baby plot was probably their most clever pregnancy storyline. I won't deny that the arc has its flaws, like all of them do, but to me it really had something for all the fans of the show, rather than just focusing on one or two characters like Regina in 4b or Captain Swan in 5a.

      If I were to rank all of the seasons, I'd go: S1, S3, S6, S5, S2, S4.

      If I were to rank all of the arcs, I'd go: S1, 5B, 6A, 3B, S2, 3A, 6B, 4A, 4B, 5A.

    • I have two joint favourites:

3A: I love the family dynamic and all the Nevengers working together, each using their own strengths, Emma being a leader, focus on Emma, balancing out screentime CS fun times, the Charmings, hell even Regina was enjoyable, and the amazing re-telling of Peter Pan with Robbie's brilliant performance (chills, every time. It;s the eyebrows).

4A (maybe an unpopular choice): The Frozen cast was adorable, some very very cute CS scenes, nice bit of Charming family (as much as they could do with Ginny recovering), great character arc for Emma culminating in a moment of self acceptance and actual meaningful development, Ingrid as a great villain, Killian in 21st century clothing, Kritstanna being cute, Emma and Elsa having a great friendship (baby come back!). My only problems were the OQ/Author plotline (but that was background stuff I could ignore), Rumbelle and the lack of payoff for the Hook's heart plot. But otherwise it was fantastic.

My least faves are probably 6B (which I did not even watch bar clips on YT because it was that painfully bad) and 5B (which was just..... boring imo. Nothing really happened until 5x20. And the whole quest was rednered meaningless anyway)

      For me it is 3A/4A>s1>s5A>2>s3B>s6A>s5B>s6B

The only reason I'd put 5B over 4B is because of the Zelena development and we got to see all the characters again.
