That a bit of a false equivalence. Can't equate inconsistencies within source materials to inconsistencies between materials, mostly if within the same canon.
I don't like being too harsh on someone's work, which is why I probably left it at "Good quick read" and that's that imo.
I tend to lean on the side with VN: Inconsistencies breed loss of believability. Just takes you right out of it if you are a steady reader in comparison to someone that reads swiftly through. Sort of like us fans who watch the show weekly versus someone who binge-watches.
So, it's put together wonderfully, but when the show canon and book canon (and sometimes headcanon) conflict it's less on the prose and format and more on the translation off the big screen. I wouldn't gauge Toliver's viewership as I'm sure she's a fan but more casual with it than most of us. XD (Plus it depends on when the book was actually written.
For me, I think it's simply due to preferences in genre.
