  • I was considering that he might have been put in the place of Belle and Rumple's baby, but he wasn't born in the Enchanted Forest. Wouldn't that mean he stayed in our world like Henry did?

    • The difference seems to be that Neal was conceived in the Enchanted Forest. Same thing applies to Alexandra during the year everyone was back in the Enchanted Forest.

    • Add on: The baby that Belle and Rumple have must have existed previously (in Storybrooke). Isaac can't create people, all he did was change memories, and create events moving forward, not change past events. The most logical explanation is that the Rumbelle baby is indeed Neal. He had to go somewhere.

    • I suppose it could have to do with conception. But why can't Isaac create characters? He can erase them from existence so why wouldn't he be able to create new characters?

    • It was made pretty clear in the episode that the baby was not Neil/Bellfire. Rumple had a conversation with Isaac about how Neil had died in battle (in that universe at least). Has it ever been stated that he can't create new characters? He doesn't care about the rules anyway, so if it's just a prohibition he wouldn't have any problem with it. Maybe Belle was already secretly pregnant and the author just wrote the child into the story?

Oh no no, he/she was talking about David and Snow White's son, Neal.

    • Ah, thanks for pointing that out.  too many babies on this show to keep track of. Sorry about that. I knew something was off when they said that he wasn't born in the enchanted forest.

No problem. That's why I added the last name in the title.

    • Really, Isaac can't create a person because he cant change the past. that's why the Rumbelle baby has to be baby Neal. For the baby to be a "new" character, isaac would have to change past events for the baby to be born. (I hope the way i explained that makes sense)

    • I believe the baby Belle and Rumple had is supposed to be baby Neal. Seeing as Isaac wasn't able to write Emma out of existence, he could only trap her in the tower in the book, so with baby Neal, even though technically he (like Emma) shouldn't exist if Snow and Charming never had children, I guess he chose to just give the baby to Belle and Rumple. I think writing someone out of existence was a possibility that Isaac didn't use for some reason since Regina was going to make him write Zelena out of existence. But that also confuses me because it appears things would have gone smoothier for him if he did have the power to write Emma out of existence, yet either he chose not to (which just seems crazy in his perspective) or he somehow could not (for whatever reason).

I don't think it literally writes them out of existence, but effectively does it instead.

Writing out a character could be kill/vaporize them (which usually undoes their magic), erase everyone's memories of that person, then voila! They are erased!

He could have done it to Emma, but I think he can not destroy the Savior, or product of True Love, and just stripped her of powers.

    • Plus with the memories erasing part Issac did ask what to do with Baelfire in Rumplestiltskin's story.

    • I doubt Isaac was going to truly going to kill Zelena or otherwise make her dead. That's not his style, it seems. (And I doubt Regina actually wanted to kill the unborn baby, just get rid of them)

You can easily send someone to a different realm (Oz, perhaps?) and change everyone's memories about it.

However, it doesn't seem that he did anything like that when he rewrote his story, which makes me wonder if he's even capable of doing something like that.

    • Seems like baby Neal Nolan really did fill in as Rumple and Belle's child in the AU, according to Kalinda Vazquez:

    • Of course it was Neal. It's the only thing that makes sense.

      Thanks for the tweet! :D

    • Haha, so Belle babysits him so much that she bacame his AU mother. I hope he doesn't get confused that there was this crazy attached woman in his earlier years and now this new woman who is with him most times. (I'm kidding. I'm sure Snow and David take great care of their child.)

    • So then it's not about where they were born but where they were conceived. Okay, I guess that makes sense.

Right! They say born, but they mean conceived.
