  • In my opinion, Sleeping Curses that were made by Maleficent can still affect those who are unwilling to take it

For example, she could just simply cast the curse on Aurora even if she was unwilling ...

In conclusion, Maleficent is the only one who knows how to make the best Sleeping Curse

    • I think there are two kinds of sleeping magic: a sleeping spell, which simply puts everybody to sleep (palace guards, the whole Storybrooke) and can be cast on whomever she wants regardless of whether they are willing or not. And then the Sleeping Curse proper, which works by means of (more or less willing) sacrifice.

Side note, in S2 Aurora told Phillip not to come for her, so I guess what Maleficent cast on her in Enter The Dragon was not the actual Sleeping Curse. I think it was more of a treat.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • It would have been fun if Aurora and philip were placed under a sleeping curse, then maleficent wouldn't have to worry about it being broken by true love's kiss. She's kinda dumb. lol kidding.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Well, Mal did curse Phillip and sent him miles away to be killed by hunters for terrorizing the nearby villages. That's actually tragic.

Mal is the witch of sleeping spells and shapeshifting, just like Cora knows how to use the heart to a greater extent than others.

Mal created the sleeping curse and she can cast a sleeping spell on a couple mile radius. She can I guess make a sleeping curse that isn't need to be willing since Regina did the sleeping curse on that horse. Regina and everyone else only attempt to replicate it and Regina only made one and it had to be willing.

Mal also can "turn into a fire-breathing dragon" and can even a flock of birds. She have some skill at shapeshifting and sleep. Cora has skill over hearts and can even rip a heart out nearly killing people and can raise their unconscious dying bodies to do her bidding. She even had a curse that using a heart of the one you hate most could make someone think they love you.

Regina and Rumple, what in the world do you all do, lol?

      Zelena and Pan too ...

Btw, I think Rumple is far more superior and knows more spells than others. Like he can show Lily's adoption by using the rattle while Maleficent can't

Also, Eskaver, can you do a list of everyone's (or at least some magic user's) specialty ?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Sure I can. Maybe after this week's episode, so I can see more of Zelena's powers.

Haha, good guess. I wouldn't say that since he used pixie dust like two times and then fly like one time with pixie dust.

    • Peter Pan's specialty is belief. Regina's is fire magic and teleportation, imo. Rumple is well versed in all kinds of magic, or so we've heard.

    • Lol, before everyone steals my thunder, I'll post what I know so far.

Regina: Jack of all trades, well versed in mirror magic (Regardless how much she uses fire)

Cora: Jack of all trades, well versed in heart magic, founded the glamour spell and the Curse of the Empty-Hearted (which can make someone think they love you)

      Rumple: Jack of all trades

Maleficent: Specializes in shapeshifting, fire and sleep magic, founded the Sleeping Curse

Cruella: Specializes in persuasion (of animals, she apparently has other magic too.)

Amara & Jafar: Specializes in telekinesis and earth-based magic

Ingrid: Specializes in Ice based magic, adapted the Spell of Shattered Sight

Elsa: Specializes in Snow based magic, (I know they are the same, but here's seem a bit softer)

Zelena: Jack of all trades, well versed in Illusion/Glamour magic (from what I see in the promo too), founded the Time Travel Spell

Anastasia: trafficked in minor and basic magic

Malcolm/Peter Pan: Follow the Lady (Note: The magic of Pan is given by the Shadow and then it's supported by the magic of Neverland aka Pixie Dust which is why he has no magic smoke)

Reul Ghorm: Jack of all trades possibly, well versed in fairy dust magic and light magic (She is potentially good at several thing, she can grant wishes from a pure/true heart)

Glinda: Who knows, really because the only magic she did was poof in and poof out!

Edit: Totally forgot Emma: Kame-hame-ha...I mean her light blasts

    • You forgot Ursula, who's specialised in hentai magic sorry I had to do that whose magic is so far mostly unknown, and the Dargon, who seems very apt at potion making.

I didn't forget Ursula. She didn't do anything magical. Her tentacles are a more natural part of her. The Dragon made like one potion of unknown material and somehow used magic smoke in a magicless world. The only thing he specializes in is plot hole (aka not ever explained).

    • So, Zelena is indeed good at illusions/ glamours!

Yes, Ursula was. That was part of being a mermaid.

It's just like her special ability, not magic

    • I don't know. In Ariel, it was mentioned that mermaids can travel through the realms. It did not say anything about drawing objects from other realms.  Ariel had to physically travel to Storybrooke (though to be fair, Gold had the Box hidden in a way that might have prevented magical recall).

Ursula, on the other hand, could CALL for items that were in any realm.  So it seems to be at least a little more powerful than the typical Mermaid skill. and I would classify all of it as Magic, just that it's inherant magic.

Also, I would say that Ursula's singing voice seems to have some magical quality to it.

Can we say it as some sort of persuasion magic, since it was used by poseidon to lure sailors to their death?

    • Posiedon used it to lure Sailors. But Killian also pointed out that it had the power to heal broken hearts (or sometihg to that effect).

I think you may have that backward.  Ingrid specializes in snow-based magic, while Elsa specializes in ice-based magic.  While they are technically the same in some regard, Ingrid's snow-based magic seems to be more potent and powerful than Elsa's ice magic.  Granted, Ingrid has had more practice and experience with her magic than Elsa.

I put it like that porposely. They both have ice based magic. I just did it like that because the Snow Queen makes and ice man, yet the Ice Queen makes a snow man.

    • I have a question u know that anyone who has been under the sleeping curse gose to the netherworld so dose that mean that every one in storybroke when they go to sleep they go to the netherworld

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I don't think that putting someone to sleep that way that Maleficent did with Storybrooke is the same as a sleeping curse.  the town eventually woke up on their own, an no TLK was required.  It was just a strong sleeping spell that Mal used, not a sleeping curse.  So, my belief is that the townsfolk would not be subject to the Nether world.

However, since you bring up the Netherworld, I would not mind seeing a little more of that realm in the future.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Yeah, I agree with Hm. It's just a stronger version of the sleeping spell. We've seen Regina do it to Pinocchio and Geppetto, to the lost boys, and Zelena do it to the Merry Men, but Maleficent with her staff managed to do it over the whole town (and even the whole castle town in a flashback).

The sleeping curse makes them sleep a long period of time or forever (which a strong sleeping spell can effectively do if they were immortal), but also drags their soul to the Netherworld for I assume torture.

Side-Note: I wish they made Mal a bit more like the Original Disney version who wasn't foiled by TLK, but knew that it would break, but wanted Phillip (or Stefan) to break it after countless years had past. And yes, during sleeping curses, you don't age.
