I am also glad that the hand was not really cursed, but that Gold is back to his old game of manipulating people without magic. Also glad that they showed that the Swashbuckler Pirate is nowhere near dead. I think that Hook needs that little bit of edge for his character to be believable.
100% agreed, he doesn't really work as a totally good character, just like Rumple. Speaking of which I loved how Rumple toyed with him. He could have just erased his memories of the fake dagger and ended it all there easily, but he chose to manipulate Hook and have him under his thumb instead. Way to go, Rumple!
Well, looks like this season is getting better and better! I wonder what Regina would do if Henry discovers the hat in Rumple's shop and goes straight to his mommy to tell her. Can't wait to see that happen...
I feel that Henry at some point will play the role of Mickey Mouse to Yen Sid. Maybe he got curious and toyed with magic and felt asleep. And the brooms started doing his job! That would be awesome! After all, we saw in this episode that Henry started sweeping the floor.
The Apprentice was a good episode. I had to watch it twice b/c I felt a little confused at time. But overall, I got what was going on and realized that the things that confused me are just pieces of information we haven't learned yet.
Highly enjoyed the broom and the music that nodded Fantasia. I mean, I've been in Disney World for the last 6 days, so I was VERY into the Sorcerer and the Apprentice stuff.
I wish the apprentice had a name. (If there is one, I missed it). It's great that Henry is the next "apprentice" in present day, at the pawn shop. Clever.
This was a very very good episode. And I love that Henry is going to be the next apprentice, waiting for a scene similar to the movie (wonder if Henry himself recognizes that it is exactly like the Disney film. Although I think it is strange he hasn't even mentioned the Frozen film).
I'll try to find it, but I believe A & E said that based on the timeline of the show, Frozen hasn't come out as a movie yet. I THINK....
Maybe next week Henry still acknowledge he understands the "Fantasia" vibe between he and his grandpa.
Henry not mentioning Frozen is not strange at all. A & E have confirmed that, from the characters perspective, Elsa is showing up somewhere in early 2013, which is well before the release of Frozen. So not even Emma and Henry would have seen the movie prior to returning after the Second curse was cast, because the movie (from their perspecitve) technically does not exist (at least not in its final state).
Now, as for Henry recognizing the Sorcerer's apprentice, that might be possible. But I get the impression that storybrooke was isolated during the first curse. Yes, they have technology (Cars, Flip phones, TV, PCs, CDs DVDs, DVRs... (STOP SAYING LETTERS!)), but I somehow think that the Disney films would have been filtered out from coming across. So most of the SB residents would not have been exposed to Disney, at least up to the point where the first curse was broken.
As I recall, it was Neal that made the comment to Mulan about the movies. Neal was from outside, and had the opportunity to see the movies. and Emma was the one to reference the Lion King (though by that point, the reference did not startle Mary Margaret and David.) So exposure of SB residents to their Disney counterparts is probably very limited. Even Henry would be limited, since he spent most of his life growing up in storybrooke.
That makes sense. It would be hilarious if Elsa comes by a year later in shock because there was a trailer about Frozen on TV. However I think most of the people know about them being fairy tales in this land, but just don't pay any attention to it. For example Henry said Peter Pan was one of his favorite films, so Regina must have owned a copy of the movie.
Speaking of Mickey Mouse, did you notice that the Apprentice got turned into a mouse. That was so clever.
Good point. Although that also could have been a residual effect of the altered memories that Regina gave Emma and Henry. and I don't doubt that Emma and Henry probably did see some movies during the "missing year", and that might have included any number of Disney classics.
