  • Just saw the new promo with Medusa in it and I thought that she is the first creature or character they introduced that comes from greek myths. Am I right? What do you think about it? And do you think they will bring in more greek characters like maybe Hercules or Pegasus? Could greek mythology be part of the second half of Season Three?

      Preparing Editor Spell
    • She's not, lol.

      Forget about Midas?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • But will Hercules be a charecter

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • True, she is not the first. We had already Midas, Sirens, Mermaids, the Pegasus' feathers...

I like the greek methology, but I think that I'm not a big fan with it on the show. Medusas and the Mermaids are my favorite creatures from it, and even though mermaids make sense, does Medusa? Don't know, let's wait for the episode to find out :)

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Medusa does make sense, since she's the villain in The Little Mermaid.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • They should limit it with the ones without godly power so not people like Zeus, Poseidon and Hades etc.

I like the inclusion of Medusa, but it can also be true that it is just a random Gorgon and not the Medusa. Well maybe we also could get Triton, but yeah he is also kinda fairy tale.

EDIT: just watched the trailer it's the real Medusa

I think they're confusing Medusa with Ursula based on the real Ursula's appearance in "Ariel".

    • I just wish that they had used a real person for Medusa instead of CGI. I mean, I would understand CGI for her eyes and her snake hair, but having them use a real actress would have been better, in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing. :/

    • thet'll probably scam us like they did in ariel and medusa's probably Regina or Rumplestiltskin

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Pegasus is unlikely to appear, Liam said the sail on his ship was made from the feathers of the last one. As for characters who have already appeared, Midas and his daughter, the siren, mermaids could technically originate from naiads and if you cound DVD bonus features, Hart Archer being the Storybrooke persona of Eros/Cupid leaves the whole pantheon of myths up for future appearances. Though given that Pegasus and Medusa are now out, it's a fair bet Perseus won't be showing up anytime soon.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I ment the mentioning of pegasus

    • I think the writers are playing with the God myth ideas this season to see if the fans will take to the idea or not.

They'll need a big baddy to outdo pan in season 3! Just like Pan outdid Cora in season 2 and Cora outdid Regina in season 1.

Am all for the introduction of pagen god's aslong as they are approached with caution and with good writing

OUaT already has a new Big Bad, lined up to replace Peter Pan. She will be portrayed, by Lost's Rebecca Mader .... and is said, to be an iconic Disney Villainess.

Well as far as Maleficent or Urusla go, unless Kristen or Yyvette have pulled out, I'm hoping Rebecca isn't playing either of them.....but Cruella would be interesting. I don't know what she'd be able to do in Storybrooke to actually cause any damage, but it'd be cool to see. Then again, maybe it's NOT Cruella. Whoever she is....I hope she'll be able to outdo Cora AND Pan.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Kristen hasn't pulled out she was on OuatiW

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Or maybe Cruella came to storybrooke looking for PONGO!Archie's Dog.

    • I hope they don't delve too deep into mythology. When you mix fairytales, Frankenstein, Greek mythology and too many characters from literature, it starts to seem idk cheesy.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I hope not. If they care for it that much, they can always make a show about Greek gods and magical creatures trapped in our world.

Haha. Yes, but initially the show was just about fairytales, but now it seems they are focused more on stories.

The show has always been about more than just traditional fairy tales, but has never done anything that falls outside of fantasy. For example, Henry's book had pictures of the Catipillar from Wonderland, and Flying Monkeys from Oz in Episode 1, and King Midas (from Greek Mythology) was in Episode 5. The furthest they have deviated so far is with Frankenstein, and I still consider that horror fantasy.

No, it wasn't. The intro in the pilot cites "classic" stories.([[File:101Intro1.PNG|here) Further, that same episode, we see images from Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz in Henry's book. These are novels, not fairytales. I think it's widespread misconception (that has been dying, it seems) that the show is about fairytales when the show itself has never claimed this. (Emma did, but I don't feel that counts) I guess it stems from the fact the main characters are fairytale characters...

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Fairy tales, the classics, it's all the same, really, and it's always been what this show has been about. All the stories people know, really. Like Utter said. It's never been just fairy tales.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • After all, (if I'm not mistaken of course) that the intro voiceover in season 1 said "every storybook character [we]'ve ever known," so that wouldn't limit it to JUST fairytales.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I didn't like that Medusa was not too distant from the EF. Wasn't she suppose to have a lair somewhere in Ancient Greece? (Which can also be like the land Agrabah)

It all just seems... too down the road. I would like to have seen the Charmings pose as Grecians waltzing past Adonis xD (Played by Sawyer) Hahaha JK!

      Yes, that's true. Good point!

    • I was very disappointed in the design for Medusa.  I can't believe they went for that stupid [BS] snake tail creature from that horrible Clash (with no) Titans movie.  She didn't have a freaking tail.  Medusa has been depicted as  sometimes horrific sometimes poetically beautiful in face with snakes for hair and is described as having wings-NOT A TAIL.

There is another monster (with normal hair) that has a serpent tail.  She is called Echidna(She-Viper), the Mother of Monsters. She gave birth to the Chimera, the Hydra, Orthrus, Cerberus, Ladon and the Colchian Dragon, and Scylla.

      [End Rant]

Watch as we find out Wendy is actually Cruella's great grand aunt or some other rediculous family relation.

I'm actually wishing it to be the Marvelous Mad Madame Mim.  She needs to make a comeback.

      Unless it's Mother Gotherl...

Side Not:  Medusa is a Disney Villain.  Madame Medusa was the villain in the first Rescuers movie. :P

I agree with you. I love Once but as I mentioned in another thread? Its beginning to look too amature. Like some youtubers just did the show and used cheap CGI v.v

I want my bloody heart-pounding Once back!!!

    • It would be cool for them introduce the Greek mythology. Then they could bring in Hercules, Hades, Megara, Pegusus. Cool. But who knows. If wonder if did decide to do that type of stuff...It would most likely be a later season.

Somehow, I don't think Disney's fun, but innacurate version, of his story from Greek Mythology, is the best we can get out of Greek Mythology on Once. Their are so many better and more interesting characters we can get. For example: Eros (Cupid) and Psyche, Jason and the Argonauts, Anyone from the Trojan War, etc. And to be fair, we've actually had Greek Mythology since season 1, King Midas is from a Greek Myth after all.

LOL I was actually going to add something like that. But anyways. Yeah I agree! :) I think The Odyssey would be pretty cool too.

I was going to mention Ulyssess, but figured he fell under my Trojan War catigory, lol, but yes his story and all the monsters he runs into are good choices as well.

I get where your coming from, since it is quite different than a lot of the other stories, but since they are doing it, they might as well use the good stories from it. :)
