  • It seems to me that Ariel will fill the void that Red/Ruby is leaving behind. According to the promotional images, it seems that Snow White meets Ariel in the same time period of her life that she met Red Riding Hood. Perhaps Ariel and Snow White will develop a similar bond in the coming episodes. One can also draw the comparison that both Red Riding Hood and Ariel are mythical beings who change shape. Thoughts?

    • Maybe she is... Snow's and Red's bond is very much like a family, I don't think that it can be replaced by Ariel that easy. Perhaps she is a very good friend to Snow but I don't know if they are gonna be as close as Red and Snow.

Well the shape shifting is not in Ariels nature, is it? And being a werewolf is/can be genetic...

I think Ariel is another wonderful close friend of Snow. Just like Cinderella.

It seems she met Ariel around the time

      she met David. Not sure.

I would not consider Cinderella as Snow White's close friend. She seemed to be more of an acquaintance, and political ally.

Guess your correct. It's just the way they were dancing at the ball with eachother.

      They seemed like giddy ol besties. (;

Snow White and Ariel look like giddy best friends, at Eric's ball, from the pictures. Snow White did not look like that, at Cinderella's wedding.

    • Yeah I agree. Snow and Cinderella seem like aquantinces.

    • I don't know, I had a feeling that Snow and Cinderella were very close to each other and that they were something like sisters in law. We haven't seen much of their shared history so maybe they were even closer than Snow and Red.

Of course, she is.... which is why, it is wonderful that Ariel is being introduced as one of Snow White's best friends. It is similar, to how Tinker Bell was Regina's best friend.

Both Ariel and Tinker Bell are iconic, and beloved characters. So, it is great that they have the potential to recur long-term.

    • I hope they promote Ariel to a regular like they did Ruby, before she left :'( And then if she comes back for an episode or two, they could maybe not like each other or something, or insult each other for comedic relief. The show seems to be getting more into the small bits of comedy (not that they didn't before, but it seems much more evident in season 3), such as Regina's new iconic phrases... "What and you'll win her over with your rainbow kisses and unicorn stickers" and other funny ones.

I would have to disagree. OUaT should not overuse Ariel, as it will destroy her character.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I don't think they overused Ruby. In fact, she made more appearances in season one, when she was recurring, than when she was a regular in season 2.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I think Ariel is a replacment for Aurora more so than Ruby because Ruby actress had to leave the show. It seems the writers introduce a new Disney Princess each season but only take the time to take care of one of them. Aside from Snow White as she is a main character they introduced Cinderella and Belle in season one but only developed Belle.  Then in season 2 they added Aurora and Mulan but they seemed to focus more on Mulan than Aurora and now the focus is off of all of them and just on Ariel(at least as of now)

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Well we don't know how much Ariel will be appearing in the future. (she's appeared once so far and only has one more confirmed appearance in the future at the moment) I don't think anybody will really be replacing Ruby because Ruby was like a Storybrooke sidekick to the main characters and know that she's gone I don't think she'll get replaced because Storybrooke isn't even the main setting anymore it seems.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I agree with you about Ruby because of her actress's commitment to other shows she has not appeared yet but I am hoping we will still get to see more of her! I was more so stating my thoughts that Ruby wasn't replaced but it seems Once has a formula with their Disney Princesses. I am hoping Ariel appears in more than two episodes.

      Doubt it....

From what I understand, Aurora and Mulan had very mixed reviews. Some people loved them, some hated them, most were indifferent. Whereas, the audience response to Ariel seems overwelmingly positive, at the moment.

    • Yeah OUAT does have some kind of a pattern with Disney Princesses. I think it's because they just can't have too many plots and characters at the same time.

I do think that Ariel will get more than two appearances on the show. She's been a long-awaited character and I don't think she's done just yet.

So then you doubt what exactly? I just stating the apparent formula the show has with the Disney Princesses. I could be wrong but Ariel could be in this for a long time. She is a fresh face to the show and very popular and iconic character. I do hope Aurora and Mulan and even Cinderella come back to show, but it doesn't seem that way.

There is probably a lot more to be done with Ariel. I'm looking forward to see what they do. one thing I really liked was how Eric mentioned he wanted to go to Agrabah. I am hoping Ariel meets Jasmine and Aladdin.

I'm all for an Ariel-Jasmine team up! Ariel and Jasmine are the two princesses I've been waiting to see and now with Jafar in OUATIW, I'm hoping we will get to see Jasmine soon.

You misunderstood me. I was referring to the fact, that Ariel is not a replacement for Aurora.

Personally, I feel that the writers overestimated the appeal of Aurora and Mulan, when they were brought onto the show. With Ariel, and even Tinker Bell, it seems they are taking it a bit slower.... testing out the waters, so to speak. Similar, to what they did with Belle, back in Season 1.

Not to mention, JoAnna Garcia and Rose McIver are much better actresses, than Sarah Bolger and Jamie Chung. Same can be said, about Gil McKinney being more talented, than Julian Morris.... if you want to mention the Disney Princes.

    • I think that between tink and ariel, Ariel is the one that the series is going to focus the most, but even though I feel as many other people here that there is too much to be told about Ariel's story, Aurora has an even bigger gap to fill in her past and the writters don't seem really concerned about it. Hope they don't drop Ariel like they did with Aurora. I love Aurora but I think that most fans don't like her because she is too different from the Disney version. I like the new one, and besides, I think that her mother is the blonde princess everyone is waiting for. Mulan is being kept for somewhere further in the story. I think they will tell her backgroung in some other season's ocasion, and Cinderella may be back in the final season like a "all princess together" type of episode (after they have all been introduced). Tink is going to be just a current season thing, because when they are done with neverland, they will be done with her (like Pan most probably). What it comes to Ruby, I really don't know what to expect. She may be so sort of Sebastian Stan in this matter maybe. For last, but not least, Alice is going to be done once OUATW is cancelled, but I bet the writters will bring her to OUAT as a special guest in some episode next season or something :) Hope I made any sense in this big messy sort of opinion ahah

Ariel is going to be reunited with Prince Eric, in her next appearance. Meaning, she is technically getting her Happily Ever After.

Considering, Ariel and Eric - while each other's True Love -  never had an actual relationship, and are virtual strangers.... OUaT can always bring them back. JoAnna Garcia was wonderful in the role, and Ariel is a pretty useful character.... as, she can travel between realms. Plus, seeing OUaT spoof the "Tour of the Kingdom" scene  in Storybrooke, would be pretty enjoyable.

    • I don't watch many other shows so I don't know how it goes. But it could be possible that because the gang is in NL right now, and Ruby doesn't add much to it, they left her out. But are already making plans to make her semi-starring again in the second half or at least the next season. I think that the writers do listen to their fans and that bringing back Ruby is something (almost) everyone wants.

I don't know how the other show of Meghan is doing, but maybe it will be on a break or even over when season 4 starts of UOaT

Actually, Meghan Ory left OUaT for this precise reason.

The creators told her, they did not know how to fit Ruby into the Neverland arc. So, she answered, that she was going to look for a new show. OUaT only promoted Meghan, because she was getting many offers, for leading roles in pilots.
