  • I was wondering what is going to happen to Mulan in season 3? She got picked up on a new show as a regular, so is she going to die in the first episode? What is her storyline gonna be without being in it as often as season 2.

    • We know as much as you bro

Just chill and wait 'till it begins, we'll see. We know she's gonna be in it, but that's it.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Mulan will be in the premiere, but I doubt she will be dying. She will probably just return to Prince Phillip and Aurora, once realizing Robin Hood is an ally. That way, she could possibly reappear in future episodes, if necessary.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I really liked Mulan, and I hoped she was going to team up with Neal and Robin (until I heard Jamie was a regular in Believe). But she at least has to be mentioned in the next episode (if it features some of Neal and Robin) else it would be strange that she is suddenly gone.

Neal is not going to be in Lost Girl.

There is hope, but there is a catch.... with Mulan, comes  Prince Phillip and Aurora.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I'm hoping we get more of her. She kind of got the shaft on character development in the last Season. She got a little bit in the first episode in Season 2, but the rest of the time she was just a "grunt" (for lack of a better term). I'm liking her pairing with Neil already, given the light banter they have. Am I saying that I want a romance? No, but I can see why they'll inevitably make slash-fics of the two.

Yup, that's true. I personally am not so interested in Phillip and Aurora, but I am interested in Maleficent so that's why I'll probably like their episodes. Because we now know that Maleficent transformed Phillip into that lion but some history behind that isn't bad either. And maybe an episode that has a flashback showing how the girls revived Phillip, but other than that I don't want to see them.

But Mulan just is so interesting, for a reason I can't explain. If she wasn't busy with her main show then having a couple major appearances won't hurt (same with Mad Hatter)

Did you read the creators' answer, about their storyline?

Maleficent is not going to be involved, with the current storyline. That "taste" they referred to, is for the spin-off.

We are going to be learning more about Mulan's, Prince Phillip's, and Aurora's present-day situation. The premiere made it quite clear, that Mulan is still (if not more, than before) in love with Phillip. Plus, they (along with Robin Hood) will be helping Neal.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I didn't get that out of the answers they gave. They said not in the first 11 episodes and that she could appear in one of the shows. While reading that I didn't got the idea that she only is going to appear in the spin-off, but sorry for making you angry.

Kinda impossible, seeing how Maid Marian already debuted. Plus, Robin Hood and Mulan are not being paired together.

Yes, Maid Marian cameoed in 2.19.

The creators hinted, many times, that Robin Hood will be Regina's love interest. Mulan still has issues to resolve, with Prince Phillip.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • No, Mulan isn't going to be with Robin Hood. Maid Marion is already dead, and according to Tinkerbell, Robin Hood is Regina's true love.

Remember how Mulan said she wanted to talk to Aurora, not Philip? Then when Aurora said she was pregnant, she looked heartbroken. Plus, she always wears men's clothing, which, I know, is because she was a crossdresser in the Chinese army. But why does she still dress that way? She doesn't have to. I'm not normally into femslashes or anything, but...

I think Mulan is in love with Aurora.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I see that Mulan is in love with first Philip then Aurora. But I don't think either is her true love.

Mulan is big on the "follow your heart" thing. Which idk but like I saw in Mulan 2

She sometimes put her heart above doing the honorable thing. I think Mulan might meet her true love soon. Whoever that is. But neither Philip nor Aurora are it.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Well, I personnally think she was in love with Phillip. then He died. And she start having feeling for Aurora.

Now I know many of the fans think "Ok she's a lesbian but she's never gonna be with Aurora since her true love is Phillip and we all know true love are endgame (when both are alive)".

So what about Regina? She had true Love. But he died. Then she have a second true love, Robin Hood. So it's possible to have more than one true love.

And remember that Phillip dies too, so does it means Aurora possibly had a second true love during the time he was dead (Hum, Mulan for example? XD)

I admit it, this theory came to me after remembering the whole Slayer thing with Buffy/Faith. XD

So she may have two true love now.

      If it'sq that, it's a really cool twist :)

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I am still holding out hope that Mulan will meet her True Love. I want it to be Li Shang and think Harry Shum Jr would be great.

Really though, it's a given isn't it? They are in the EF, isn't that the land of happily ever afters providing you have goodness in your heart and deserve it. The EQ had to rip them all away to our land to ensure they didn't have happy endings. If this is it for Mulan then she may as well be in the LWM and be miserable forever with her unrequited love.

Although, they could go the route that belonging in Robin Hood's Merry Men, and simply knowing and loving Phillip and Aurora and helping them find each other and be together is her happy ending, even if she doesn't realise that right now.

I was a tad disappointed to have no Beast at all and to instead have Belle fall for Rump, but again, not the end of the world or anything.

I for one do love the twists in this show. It just does its own thing and really reminds us that Disney doesn't OWN fairy tales and Once Upon a Time can do whatever it feels like and reference whatever it wants. :)

That's what I said, there's no 'Beast' from the original fairy tale, and instead that role was filled in by Rumpelstiltskin. I was just using it as an example of how Once Upon a Time and mix up whatever they feel like.

After watching the AH-mazing scene between Jamie and Sarah (seriously, such a sweet/sad moment) I rewatched 2x01 and Mulan never admits to loving Phillip. Yes, they were friends and she probably cared about him a lot, but it was mostly Aurora assuming. Just wondering if the producers ever confirmed it or not.

If they go the rest of the season without even mentioning it again, I'm going to be so disappointed.

In the show, there's absolutely nothing to suggest that Mulan had romantic feelings for Phillip other than Aurora's assumption. The wide acceptance that they did with hardly anything to back it up has more to do with heteronormativity than anything else.

However, Jamie Chung seems to be busy with NBC's Believe, from what I understand. She is a regular, on that show, and it films in New York.

Sometimes you don't have to hear anything to know. It's also in facial expressions & body language. So Mulan must have felt some affection for Phillip. Cuz at first she was pretty annoyed with Aurora.

Does it have to be love, tho? I'm protective of a male friend of mine... I'd be suspicious of anyone he had strong feelings for, even someone I helped him find and save. I'm not in love with him.

I also object to the "people only think that because it's heteronormative" comment. People see love and sexual tension everywhere, it doesn't have to be JUST because one is male and one is female.

Not love but some sort of affection toward Phillip that caused some obv pain when she saw him with another woman.

I do not know what the future holds for the Aurora/Phillip/Mulan love triangle, but I have to say that it would really suck for Phillip to lose Aurora to someone else after all he has gone through. First, Maleficent turned him into a creature to keep him away from Aurora, he was frozen for 28 years before reaching her, and then he lost his soul. Now that he and Aurora are together again and are about to start a family I would just feel really sorry for him to be apart from his true love again if someone else took her away from him.

I don't think Aurora is going anywhere. I think she loves Mulan as a friend. But now she has a baby to think about. Having an LGBT character would be awesome. But I feel this whole Mulan/ Aurora thing was to satisfy a group of fans. Once should do better then that.

Of course OUaT can do better, than the SleepingWarrior ship. That ship's name, is proof of just how boring, those two are together.

I feel that scene in 3.03, was the writers way, of having their cake and eating it too. They gave the volatile, vocal shippers their wish.... all, while sinking the ship.

Hopeless optimism, that Mulan might reappear, from some fans.

It seems, many people did not understand, that the scene in 3.03, was the character's farewell. Sure, Mulan is having adventures with some of the Merry Men, but it is unlikely the audience will see or hear from her ever again. She was minor character, and never played an important role, in the overall story.

Yes.... Robin Hood will be playing a major role, during the second half. That does not mean, the rest of the Merry Men will too.

Robin Hood is Regina's soulmate, and love interest. His arc will be tied to that, in both the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke. The rest of the Merry Men, including Mulan, are not necessary. Mulan's absence will be easily explained.... she and the Merry Men are having their own adventure, off-screen.

As of now, Aurora and Prince Phillip will only be in 3.12. From what I understand, they will be the "welcoming committee". It would have been harder to explain Mulan's absence, if she did not leave. Since the breginning of the arc; it was Aurora, Phillip, and Mulan.

    • She does, but thats the thing with these series..i thought it was an emseble-ish show..cause what happens if Ginnifer or Josh want to leave the show..everyones going to cry and say the shows is band when the continue with new actors..

But lol, i have never heard of this lol, ABC didnt even promote (not that i know of) the show as A WHOLE NEW WAYY SNOW WHITE BLABLA like for example Beauty and the Beast show on the cw is all about Beauty and the Best, that would be weird if other fairly tale characters would appear in modernized versions...

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • The man focus still is Snow White and that fairy tale. However I still feel like the show is about how all the fairy tale characters connected to each other.

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • Why would they need to "promote" it like that when it's obvious what the show is about? XD If Ginny and Josh left, the show would likely end lol.

All three seasons have centered on Snow White, and everyone else we've seen are shown pretty much exclusively in the context of how they fit into that story.

That's not to say that it isn't fun to see other characters, tho.

    • xD Yeah well..thanx for clearing that up lol

    • Jamie Chung talks about Mulan's feelings for Aurora and Phillip in this article. She also says that she is fully committed to her new show 'Believe' right now and has yet to return to 'OUAT', but she is open for more appearances.

This is a nice little article to read. Unfortunately, I now regret skimming the comments section of that online article. I can't believe people are still so hung up over Disney's interpretation of Mulan as the one true story of Mulan and are basing that as the reason for their anger towards the "Mulan is in love with Aurora" Once Upon a Time twist. I laughed at one person's comment that said he found it disrespectful to J.M. Barrie that the writers made Peter Pan evil. Since when is making a different interpretation of a character bad?

I have one problem, with Jamie Chung's answer. She seems to imply, that Mulan was already in love with Aurora, when she was travelling with Prince Phillip. That does not really make sense, because Mulan and Aurora never met. Phillip could have told her stories, about Aurora.... but at the end of the day, that would just be Mulan having a creepy infatuation.

I suppose she could be giving her own interpretation (from having portrayed the character) of when exactly she perceived Mulan could have developed feelings for Aurora.

I haven't read any of that in Jamie's reply, to be honest. She simply stated that Mulan had devoted so much effort into finding Aurora while bonding (in whatever way) with Phillip, then she felt cut out of the thing in the end (as in, she put so much of herself into it and them two got their happy ending but hey, what about her?). And then she bonded with Aurora while searching for Phillip's soul and she fell in love with her. There's no implication about Mulan developing feelings of sort for both of them simultaneously.

the last time we saw her wasn't she in love with Aurora. Like about to confess those feelings before Aurora announced her pregnancy?

    • Pretty sure Jamie Chung (Mulan's actress) confirmed that Mulan had only ever had feelings for Aurora, and that she looked toward Phillip more as a comrade trying to find his lost princess. There's an article out there somewhere about it....

    • It would be interesting if Mulan knew Aurora before she met Phillip but that Aurora didn't know her. And then encountered Maleficent to make some kind of deal with her. But we would be ignoring the whole "The Outsider" episode. But I still think the idea of Maleficent making a plan/deal with Mulan interesting. Maybe that is why she isn't in Storybrooke.

    • I wonder what would have happened if Mulan told Aurora how she felt back at the palace, But I really want to know why she wasn't in Storybrooke. Maybe she was captured by a villian for some reason or maybe she just was like "Pfft I'm too cool for this crew"

    • Held captive by Maleficent? xD

    • Well Maleficent is in the library back in Storybrooke unless she didn't get effected by the second curse.

Oh my God! And I thought I was the only one! A lot of people seem not to like her, but I like her A LOT.  She was actually the reason I began watching the show. When I heard Mulan was in it I started watching. I really do hope she comes back.
