Tiana to Cinderella src

The Prince is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He débuts, with his only appearance, in the first episode of the seventh season and is portrayed by co-star Liam Hall.

The Prince is based on the character of the same name from the fairytale "Cinderella", and the Disney film Cinderella.

History

After Fourth Curse

At some point, the prince becomes involved with Lady Tremaine, assisting her in killing her husband. Her stepdaughter, Cinderella, plots to get revenge, as she believes the man to be solely responsible for her father's demise. A resistance against the prince, his family, and Lady Tremaine is eventually formed, led by Tiana. ("Hyperion Heights," "The Garden of Forking Paths")

When the prince hosts a ball in hopes of finding love, both Tiana and Cinderella attend, with Tiana spying on the prince and Cinderella wishing to kill him to avenge her father. After rejecting Drizella, the daughter of Lady Tremaine, the prince meets Cinderella, but he does not recognize her and begins to fall for her. However, when they wander off alone, Cinderella pulls out a dagger but has a change of heart and decides not to kill him. However, as he thanks her for changing her mind, Lady Tremaine stabs him through the back, killing him so that his younger brother, who has become interested in Lady Tremaine's daughter Drizella, can take the throne. She then frames Cinderella for this murder by calling out for the royal guards to stop her from escaping. ("Hyperion Heights", "Beauty")

Cinderella is saved from the prince's guards by Tiana, who reveals the truth of the circumstances of her father's death. She ends up joining the resistance to stop Lady Tremaine. ("The Garden of Forking Paths")

Production Notes

  • An official concept art refers to this character as "Prince Thomas", which is the name of the first iteration of the Prince.[1] However, it could only be a fill-in name, and so not being the real name of this character.
