Phuket, Thailand is a Land Without Magic location featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. It débuts, with its only appearance, in the eighteenth episode of the second season.
Phuket is partially an allusion to Pleasure Island from the Disney film Pinocchio.
History
Having gotten Neal out of Emma's life by convincing him not to be in her way to fulfill her fate as the Savior, August moves to Thailand. Via mail from Phuket, he sends Emma, who is in prison, the keys to the yellow bug that Neal left for her. ("Tallahassee")
While August is living in Phuket, he is approached by the Apprentice, who provides him with information about a book which he claims to be important for August to find. ("Unforgiven," "Operation Mongoose Part 1")
On October 23rd, 2011, at 8:15 P.M., Emma checks in to an inn in Storybrooke. Her determination to stay in town triggers a side effect of the magic that once turned Pinocchio into a real boy and causes August's leg to turn into wood at the exact same time, on October 24th, at 8:15 A.M. in Phuket's time zone. ("The Stranger," "Selfless, Brave and True")
August is in bed with a girl named Isra when he realizes his transformation started. Desperate, August wakes Isra and show her his leg, but the girl can't see it has become wooden. ("Selfless, Brave and True")
Years later, Kelly West's daughter went to Phuket for a foam party. Per her mother, she plans to stay there, as she thinks Kelly is not cool. ("The Eighth Witch")
Trivia
Disney
- August's description for Phuket, which is "It's a beautiful, amazing island, full of pleasures. The perfect place to lose oneself...", is an allusion to Pleasure Island in Disney's Pinocchio. ("The Stranger")

Lost
- Phuket is also referred to on Lost, including the episode "Stranger in a Strange Land", a title which is similar to "The Stranger", the Once Upon a Time episode where Phuket was first mentioned.
- August wakes up at 8:15 AM.[1] 8 and 15 are two of the Lost numbers. ("Selfless, Brave and True")
Set Dressing
- The label on a bottle of lager on August's nightstand in has an illustration of a dragon.[1] ("Selfless, Brave and True")
