Paul Edwards is an episodic director for ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Biography
Career
Edwards began his career as a camera operator in feature films during the 1980s. This led to work as a cinematographer. He lensed the films The Master (1992) and Eye of the Stranger (1993). He worked as a camera operator or second unit director of photography on films throughout the 1990s. His work includes The Immortals, Volcano, Lolita, Blade, and Enemy of the State. In the early 2000s he worked as a camera operator for Shanghai Noon and Man on Fire among other films. He also made his debut as a director, helming an episode of That's Life.
He was hired as a camera operator for the first season of Lost in 2004. He worked alongside future Once Upon a Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz who were writers and producers for Lost. Edwards began directing episodes of Lost with the second season in 2005. He remained a regular director until the series conclusion in 2010 and helmed a total of ten episodes for the series including the penultimate episode "What They Died For". He also directed the bonus feature "Epilogue: The New Man in Charge".
While working on Lost, he also directed three episodes of Heroes. He has also directed episodes of Pushing Daisies, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Battlestar Galactica. He was also a regular director for Fringe, the next series from Lost creator J.J. Abrams. He was a director and producer for the first season from 2008 to 2009, helming 4 episodes. He left his producer role but returned to direct a fifth episode for the second season in fall 2009. He directed four episodes of Human Target in the 2009 to 2010 season.
He joined the crew of Once Upon a Time as an episodic director for the first season in the 2011 to 2012 season. He helmed the episodes "That Still Small Voice" and "The Return". He also reunited with J.J. Abrams as a director for two episodes of new series Alcatraz. He also directed two episodes of Missing.
