"It's titled Once Upon a Time and it's the story of us. [...] I wish the world could know the story of my family, how it was all true, how every moment of it happened. And you may think this is just a story. But that's the thing about stories. They're more than words. They live inside of us. They make us who we are. And, as long as someone believes that, there will always be magic."

Synopsis

From the inventive minds of Lost executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis comes a bold new imagining of the world, where fairy tales and the modern-day are about to collide.

And they all lived happily ever after - or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything starts to change. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma's help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world and is Snow White and Prince Charming's missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen's curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world.

Of course Emma doesn't believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for Henry, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It's a place where magic has been forgotten, but is still powerfully close... where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don't remember who they once were. The epic battle for the future of all worlds is beginning, but for good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.[2]

Story

Season One
An infant known as Emma is sent away to a distant land when the Evil Queen's Dark Curse hits the Enchanted Forest, ripping every inhabitant away to a town called Storybrooke, where the only happy ending is the Evil Queen's. This is until she adopts a child called Henry, who, on Emma's 28th birthday, visits her in Boston and reveals that he is her son. They then travel back to Storybrooke where Henry tells Emma that she is the only one that can break the Dark Curse. Emma reluctantly stays, not because she believes in the curse, but because she wants to keep her eye on Henry's adoptive mother who may or may not actually care about her son.
Season Two
After breaking the Dark Curse in Season One, all of the fairytale characters still cannot go back to the Enchanted Forest and must deal with their own dual identities. With the introduction of magic into Storybrooke by Mr. Gold, the fate of the two worlds becomes intertwined, and new threats emerge in the form of Captain Hook, Regina's mother and two new people from our world with an agenda to destroy magic. Or is it?
Season Three

In the first half of the season, the main characters travel to Neverland to rescue Henry, who has been kidnapped by Peter Pan as part of a plan to obtain Henry's heart. Their increasing power struggle with Pan continues in Storybrooke, which ultimately results in the complete reversal of the original curse. All the characters are returned to their original worlds, leaving Emma and Henry to escape to New York City.

In the second half the characters are mysteriously brought back to a recreated Storybrooke with their memories of the previous year removed, and the Wicked Witch of the West appears with a plan to alter her fate. Once again, Emma is needed to save her family.
Season Four

Characters from Disney's Frozen find their way on the first half of Season Four of Once Upon a Time. Elsa, Anna and Kristoff's story takes place a couple of years after their movie. Anna soon ventures out to find out why her parents travelled to a land called Misthaven. When Elsa arrives in modern-day Storybrooke, she promises to find her sister, as she was missing. Unknown to her, a mysterious woman with similar powers to Elsa and a history with Emma had travelled to Storybrooke a few years ago for Elsa and Emma. She wanted to have two sisters with powers, as her pervious ones tried to shut her off because of them.

After the defeat of the Snow Queen, Anna, Kristoff and Elsa can finally go back to Arendelle. However, Robin Hood - Regina's true love, must also depart because of the aftermath of Ingrid's magic on his wife. Thus, Regina teams up with Emma and Henry to seek out the author of Henry's book so that she can finally have her happy ending. However, Mr. Gold, with the help of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent and Ursula, has his own plan to rewrite the rules governing the destinies of all heroes and villains.
Season Five

As Emma Swan becomes the new Dark One, her family and friends start a quest to find Merlin, the only one capable of destroying the Darkness. In their journey to Camelot and back to Storybrooke, they meet Merida and people from King Arthur's kingdom. When everyone, including the Camelot folk, are mysteriously brought to Storybrooke without their memories of the past six weeks in Camelot, the residents of Storybrooke start looking for a way to get them back, but a powerful and seemingly evil Dark Swan will do everything she can to prevent them from remembering.

In the second half of the season, the heroes travel to the Underworld to rescue Hook, but they soon realize that escaping the Lord of Death Hades won't be easy. During their journey, the group also reunite with their dearly departed and comes up with a plan to help them move on to a better place. Meanwhile, Peter Pan, Cruella De Vil and other deceased villains have their own agenda.

Season Six

When Regina split herself in an attempt to eliminate her evil half, she unwittingly released the Evil Queen. Now the Evil Queen is back and ready to leave a trail of destruction in her wake. Meanwhile, Regina is quickly learning that destroying her dark side won’t be that easy, especially when dealing with the consequences of having unleashed the Queen on Storybrooke. Emma learns a life-altering secret that could have serious consequences for her family and loved ones. While the heroes grapple with what Emma is confronting, Henry welcomes the new arrivals from the Land of Untold Stories by pledging to help them complete their tales. But when Snow White, Prince Charming, Regina, Captain Hook and Zelena become entwined in these untold tales, they find themselves haunted by their own unfinished pasts. Meanwhile, after handing Storybrooke over to Mr. Hyde, Mr. Gold continues his quest to wake Belle from her self-induced sleeping curse, in hopes of reuniting with both her and their unborn child.

This season our heroes will be met with many surprises, including Aladdin, a former Savior who may be able to offer Emma just the help she needs, Jafar, Princess Jasmine, the Count of Monte Cristo and Morpheus.[3]
Season Seven
After six seasons, the residents of the Enchanted Forest face their greatest challenge yet as the Evil Queen, Captain Hook and Rumplestiltskin join forces with a grown up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, new fairy tale characters and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.[4]

Three days before, the series was renewed for a second season,[12] which premiered on September 30, 2012.[13] On May 10, 2013, Once Upon a Time was renewed for Season Three,[14] as the second season ended on May 12, 2013.[15] The third season premiered on September 29, 2013.[16]

As the series concluded its third season on May 11, 2014,[17] ABC renewed it three days before on May 8, 2014 for the fourth season.[18] It premiered on September 28, 2014,.[19] On May 7, 2015, the series was renewed for Season Five,[20] as Season Four ended on May 10, 2015.[20]

The fifth season premiered on September 27, 2015.[21] On March 3, 2016, the series got an early renewal for its sixth season.[22] Once Upon a Time's one hundredth episode is titled "Souls of the Departed", and aired on March 6, 2016.[23] Season Five ended on May 15, 2016.[24]

The sixth season premiered on September 25, 2016.[25] On May 7, 2017, the series aired its highly anticipated musical episode, entitled "The Song in Your Heart".[26] Four days later, Once Upon a Time was renewed for its seventh season.[27] Season Six ended on May 14, 2017.[28]

The seventh season premiered on October 6, 2017.[29] On February 6, 2018, it was announced that the series would be ending after its seventh season.[1] Season Seven and the series concluded on May 18, 2018, with "Leaving Storybrooke".[30]
