Merrin Dungey is the American actress who portrays the Sea Witch Ursula on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Biography
Merrin Dungey was born on August 6, 1971 and raised in Sacramento, California. She is the daughter of Don Dungey, a general services manager, and has one sister, Channing Dungey, who is a studio production assistant. As a child, Merrin was active in ballet before moving onto ice skating and then settling on acting. She graduated in 1989 from Rio Americano High School and earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in 1993.[1]
Merrin has had small roles in Hollywood films such as EDtv and Deep Impact and various television series such as Martin before landing the role of Kelly Palmer on the CBS television series The King of Queens, which she starred on from 1999 to 2007. She is well known for her role as Francie Calfo on the drama series Alias and her recurring role on the FOX sitcom Malcolm in the Middle as Stevie's mother, Kitty Kernaban. During 2004 to 2005, she was on the short-lived WB drama Summerland. Her guest starring roles include Living Single, ER, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, Friends, The West Wing, Babylon 5 and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her more recent television appearances have been on ABC sitcom's Surviving Suburbia starring Bob Saget, Better Off Ted starring Porti de Rossi, Castle starring Nathan Fillion and HBO's Hung starring Thomas Jane.
In May 2007, she married boyfriend Matthew Drake in a Mariachi style wedding ceremony in Cancun, Mexico. They currently have two daughters.
