Mark Mylod is an episode director and executive producer for ABC's Once Upon a Time.



Mylod began his career as a director of British television. He worked on the acclaimed comedy series Shooting Stars, The Fast Show, Cold Feet, Shameless, and The Royle Family. He was nominated for multiple British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards in the 1990s. He won the award for Best Light Entertainment in 1997 (for Shooting Stars) and 1998 (for The Fast Show). He directed the film Ali G Indahouse in 2002. His success in the UK led to work in America.

He directed the Robin Williams comedy The Big White in 2005. He joined the crew of the HBO comedy Entourage as an episodic director for the third season in 2006. He became a co-producer and regular director for the fourth season in 2007. He was promoted to co-executive producer and remained a regular director for the fifth season in 2008. The producers were nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series for their work on the fifth season.

He directed the pilot of Washingtonienne in the 2008 to 2009 television development season. The series aired as a mid-season replacement in 2008 and was not renewed. He also directed two episode of The United States of Tara in early 2009. He returned as a co-executive producer and regular director for the sixth season of Entourage in fall 2009. He left the crew at the end of the sixth season.

He directed the romantic comedy What's Your Number? in 2011. He also became a co-executive producer and regular director for Showtime's remake of the British series Shameless, having also directed episodes of the original.

In the 2011 to 2012 television development season he helmed the Once Upon a Time pilot episode. He was also credited as an Executive Producer for the pilot only. He then returned to Shameless as a regular director and co-executive producer for the second season.

Personal life

Mylod is married to costume designer Amy Westcott, and has 2 daughters.
