Madame Faustina is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. She débuts, with her only appearance, in the tenth episode of the fourth season and is portrayed by guest star Rebecca Wisocky.
History
During the year 1982, Madame Faustina resides in Boston working as a fortune teller who gives her customers fake readings. One night, Ingrid enters her shop for knowledge about a girl that has yet to be born. Faustina appears to be both surprised and pleased at Ingrid's naivety about the non-existence of magic in this world. Once both are seated at the table, Faustina asks Ingrid for payment to "express her gratitude." After Ingrid forfeits her necklace, the seer gazes into a fake crystal ball and foretells of a girl that is very special. As Faustina prepares to make up a name for the girl, she pauses dramatically while an intrigued Ingrid presses her to continue. The fortune teller announces the girl's name is Susan, but Ingrid discovers from the sorcerer's scroll that her name will actually be Emma Swan. Outraged at being deceived, Ingrid storms out of the shop and berates Madame Faustina, who shows little care for swindling her. Angered, Ingrid attempts to use magic to punish her but discovers that her powers do not work in this world. Faustina then threatens Ingrid with a baseball bat to make her leave. Before Ingrid walks away, she states that the seer's trickery changes nothing about the sorcerer's prophecy. ("Shattered Sight")
Trivia
Production Notes
- Her casting call describes her as, "a charlatan who, in flashbacks, pretends to commune with spirits in order to swindle her customers by telling them made-up fortunes. Said “seer” exhibits a gentle, compassionate manner, but that is only an act designed to conceal her tough, unscrupulous nature from her marks."[1]
Other Notes
- In the tenth episode of the ninth season of Modern Family, which is another ABC show, Rebecca Wisocky portrays a character called Mrs. Graham, who, incidentally, is also interested in psychic powers and supernatural events, and also briefly mentions that she has her own psychic.
