King Fergus, also known as the Bear King, is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He débuts, with his only appearance, in the ninth episode of the fifth season. He is portrayed by guest star Glenn Keogh.

King Fergus is based on the character of the same name from the Disney/Pixar film, Brave.

History

After Second Curse

While fighting alongside the allied clans of DunBroch, King Fergus is run through by an enemy knight's sword. His daughter Merida misses an arrow meant for the knight and subsequently blames herself for her father's death. ("The Bear and the Bow")

After Fergus dies, his wife Elinor is exiled by the clans and Merida becomes Queen. But the clans do not agree with her ruling because she is a woman, as well as the events on the battlefield shaking their faith in her, leading them to kidnap Merida's three brothers in an attempt to make her relinquish the throne. ("The Dark Swan") ("The Bear and the Bow")
