Julian Morris is the British actor who portrays Prince Phillip on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Biography

Julian David Morris was born on January 13, 1983 in Crouch End of North London, but raised in Muswell Hill. He is the son of Zimbabwean-born former teacher Andrea and South African-born accountant Glen Morris. Julian spent his childhood growing up in both countries. His sister, Amy, once worked for fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Early in his childhood, Julian began acting at Islington's Anna Scher Theatre. At thirteen, he caught the attention of the director of British drama The Knock during a theatre production, and was offered a part in the series.

For the next eight years, Julian continued building up his acting skills with intensive training at the Anna Scher Theatre while job opportunities arose for him. After filling a role on The Knock for a year, he made his feature film debut in the 1997 production of Don't Go Breaking My Heart, which was not released to the public until 1999. This followed with a small gig in the 1999 TV movie Kid in the Corner before taking on regular role in the six part drama series Fish.

Julian also spent three seasons of his teenage years at the Royal Shakespeare Company portraying spear-carriers and working under directors Stephen Pimlott, Elija Moshinsky and Tim Albery in productions such as Macbeth and Richard III. Subsequently, he completed his schooling A-level exams and received acceptance into Nottingham University with an English major and plans to tour Africa. However, persuasion from an agent convinced him to drop his future aspirations and earned a lead in the NBC pilot Young Arthur, which brought Julian to the attention of North American viewers.

In 2014, Julian was cast as Reverend Paul Curtis in Hand of God. Later that year, Julian was cast as Ryan, a recurring character in the fourth season of New Girl. In 2016, Julian landed a major role in the film, Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House playing Bob Woodward, the Washington Post reporter who teamed with Carl Bernstein to expose the Watergate dealings.
