Jorge Garcia is the American actor who portrays Anton on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Jorge Fernando García was born on April 28, 1973[1] in Omaha, Nebraska to Cuban-born professor Dora Mesa and Chilean-born doctor Humberto García.[2] He grew up in San Juan Capistrano in Southern California and attended San Clemente High School.

His interest in acting sprouted after portraying a villain on-stage for a musical at Shorecliffs Middle School where he received good reception from the audience. Jorge was known by teachers and classmates for his love of theatre drama and acted in plays such as Arsenic and Old Lace and Fiddler on the Roof, had singing skills that garnered first place at the school talent show, did choir performances at the Triton Center, and was on the wrestling heavyweight team. As a senior, he was selected by the faculty as "Triton of the Year", the highest award given to only one graduating student per year.[3]

Jorge graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles in 1995 earning a bacelor's degree in communications. During his time at university, he did double duty as an academic student as well as engaging in school and community theatrical productions. Following leaving school, Jorge took a job at Borders and continued acting in musicals and plays at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.[3] In 2003, he landed a role on the WB Television Network pilot show Originals, and quit his day job, though the production was not picked up for airing. Even so, he had enough television gigs to pay the bills. In 2004, Jorge's break came in the form of the ABC show Lost as Hugo "Hurley" Reyes, and one-hundred seventeen episodes later, he is one of the most recognizable characters on television. His other recurring roles in the industry have been on Becker as Hector Lopez and Alcatraz as Dr. Diego Soto. He also appears as Jerry Ortega on the CBS show Hawaii Five-o” with guest appearances on Fringe, Mr. Sunshine, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Spin City.
