Jacqueline, better known as Jack, is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. She débuts in the sixth episode of the second season. She is portrayed by guest star Cassidy Freeman, and does not have a Storybrooke counterpart.

Jack is based on a character of the same name from the folktale, "Jack and the Beanstalk".

History

Before First Curse

Sometime in the past, Jack travels to Wonderland and saves a village from a beast called a Jabberwock. As a reward, she is given a magic mushroom from a "wise woman" as a gift.[1]

In one kingdom's castle in the Enchanted Forest, Jack is having a secret rendezvous with the prince, James, in his bedroom. As they kiss passionately, James' father, King George, storms in and demands his son cease what he is doing; as the treasury of the kingdom is being run down due to his latest runs of dalliances. King George orders James to investigate a giant that's been sighted nearby. In the woods near the castle, Jack and James see the giant, Anton, watching people outside a tavern window. In a friendly gesture, Jack gives Anton a magic mushroom so he can shrink to human size. After he does so, the couple take him to the pub. Taking advantage of the naive giant, they trick him into feeling pity for their kingdom, which is in dire need of money to pay off debts. Anton mentions magic beans, but then offers treasure instead. As he returns up the beanstalk to fetch the treasure, Jack and James lead an army up to infiltrate the giants' home and steal magic beans. On orders of his brother, Arlo, Anton destroys the beans before they can take them. While James is busy grabbing valuables, Jack duels Arlo and stabs him with her poisoned blade. Before she can flee, Arlo pierces her with the same weapon. Mortally wounded, Jack pleads for help from James, who coldly informs her that he has a kingdom to run and flees down the beanstalk. Presumably, Jack later succumbs to her injury. ("Tiny")

After First Curse

Many years later, Hook mentions all the giants except for one are deceased from the past battle against humans. Although he is aware of Jack's part in slaying the giants, he is not aware that Jack was a woman. When Emma and Hook sneak into the castle of the remaining giant, Anton, to look for a enchanted compass, they stumble upon Jack's skeleton. Later, Emma uses Jack's sword to threaten Anton. ("Tallahassee")
