Ingrid Torrance is the Canadian actor who portrays Nurse Ratched on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Biography

Ingrid Mila Torrance was born on December 29, 1969[1][2] in New Westminster, British Columbia[2] and raised in North Vancouver. Her parents are of Icelandic[3] and Scottish ancestry.[citation needed] She is an actor, acting instructor, producer, director and author. Ingrid has been an acting teacher since 1995, and an on-set and off-set coach since 1998. Currently, she teaches at the acting institution, Studio On The Drive.[4]

Her television appearances include Andromeda, Smallville, The Outer Limits, Blade: The Series, Stargate SG-1, The 4400 and Higher Ground, and film work examples are Double Jeopardy, Act of War, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, The Auburn Hills Breakdown, and Driven to Kill. Ingrid has been nominated for a Leo Award as Best Actress and was featured in Entertainment Weekly as a Breakout Actress. She has coached many actors for both performance and dialogue, such as Karina Lombard (of The 4400, Legends of the Fall), Cameron Bright (of New Moon, 11:11, Birth), Devan Sawa (of Final Destination), Greyson Golka for Men in Trees and Cheng Pei Pei and Henry O for They Wait.[5]

She is executive producer on the film, Little Boy Blues, which sold to three networks; Chum, Astral, and Movie Central. She has also been an associate producer for Daysleeper directed by Daniel Dimarco, produced and directed twelve documentaries, which are currently being distributed as feature series and DVDs. Lastly, Ingrid was inspired to write a "How To" book on the acting industry titled ACT! a Step by Step Guide to Starting Your Acting Career.[4]
