Hans' Brothers is a group of characters featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. They début in the third episode of the fourth season.
Hans' brothers are based on the group of characters of the same name from the Disney film, Frozen.
History
After discovering the location of a magical urn capable of trapping a magic user, Franz, Hans, Jurgen and their ten other brothers partake on a mission to a cave in a bid to find the urn. Along the way, the brothers set up camp in the North Valley. After settling, Jurgen orders his younger brother to place more wood on the fire, to which Hans refuses. The pair continue to bicker, which causes Hans' brothers to laugh at his expense. After finding the location of the urn, Hans smugly releases the contents–and to the surprise of everyone, a white liquid pours out before a blonde woman materializes from it. The blonde attacks Jurgen and Franz and traps them behind spikes of ice, rendering them powerless as she freezes their younger brother. ("Rocky Road")
After Elsa becomes trapped in the urn by a spell induced Anna, Ingrid–the woman who was once imprisoned in the urn, sets off an eternal winter in Arendelle, causing Hans' brothers and the rest of the citizens to become ice statues. ("Smash the Mirror")
Thirty years later, Arendelle unfreezes, freeing everyone from their ice imprisonment. After Hans declares himself the new ruler of the kingdom, his brothers attempt to arrest Anna and Kristoff, but the pair fight back. Anna takes Jurgen's sword and presses the blade to his throat, forcing Hans' to retreat.
After figuring out Anna and Kristoff's plan, Hans is able to devise a plan with the infamous pirate Black Beard, which results in the capture of the pair on the Jolly Roger. As Hans sentences them to death, Jurgen presses his sword against Anna's neck, keeping her immobilized before he forces her into a chest. ("Fall")
Hans is able to take over the kingdom briefly, but after Elsa's return, Hans, along with his brothers, are dethroned. It is not known what happens to Hans and his brothers after this, whether they are imprisoned or sent home. ("Heroes and Villains")
