Hangman's Island is a Fairy Tale Land location featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. It first appears in the seventeenth episode of the third season.
History
After taking Prince Eric captive on the Jolly Roger, Black Beard imprisons him on Hangman's Island. Ariel, Eric's lover, tracks Black Beard down with the help of Hook. Before Ariel can find out where Eric is, Hook hurls the other pirate into the sea, but Ariel is able to save his life and gets the information. ("The Jolly Roger," "Fall," "Poor Unfortunate Soul")
Ariel eventually reaches Hangman's Island and is reunited with Prince Eric. Due to Hangman's Island being out of the Dark Curse's reach, they are not taken back to Storybrooke when Snow White casts it. ("The Jolly Roger")
With the tracking ability of Captain Nemo's harpoon, Hook, Aladdin, Jasmine, Nemo, Liam, and the crew of the Nautilus are led to Hangman's Island in search of Jafar. Before they can reach the island, the Nautilus begins to take in water, so Jasmine uses a wish to have Aladdin teleport them to the island. While Nemo, Liam, and the Nautilus's crew leave to salvage the Nautilus, Jasmine, Aladdin, and Hook continue tracking Jafar, finding him in a genie lamp inside of Ariel and Eric's hut. With encouragement from Hook, Aladdin, and Ariel, Jasmine defeats Jafar by transforming him into a staff. Instead of using her final wish to free Agrabah, she breaks the spell with the power of her and Aladdin's true love kiss. As Agrabah is restored to its rightful place, the four heroes are taken away from the island to it. ("A Wondrous Place")

- Belcarra Regional Park in Vancouver doubles as Hangman's Island for the episode "A Wondrous Place," both for the forest scenes and the scene on the sandy beach.[2] For the scenes outside Ariel's cottage, a cabin set was built in the forest at the park.[3]

- ↑ In "The Jolly Roger," Black Beard reveals that he is keeping Prince Eric prisoner at Hangman's Island. This could either mean that Black Beard himself brought him there, or that his crew did it for him.
