Biography
Greyston Holt Stefancsik, professionally known as Greyston Holt, was born on September 30,[1] 1985[2] in Calgary, Alberta. His grandparents, Edith and Mike Stefancsik, emigrated from Hungary in 1957 to Lethbridge. Greyston's father, also named Mike Stefancsik, works for a home improvement store called Windsor Plywood.[4] Greyston lived in Lethbridge until he was two years old[3] at which time he and his parents moved to Vancouver where they made their new home at Saltspring Island, the largest of the Gulf Islands. During his high school years, he took up guitar, formed a band and played at various venues on the island and in Vancouver.[5] It was also during Grade 12 that Greyston became curious about acting and took a drama class, which he loved so much and made up his mind to pursue an acting career.[3]
After moving to Vancouver to enroll in full-time acting courses and secure an agent, he was cast in the award-winning Spielberg miniseries Into the West. After that came a lead in the television feature A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, based on the true story of Gwen Araujo, a transgendered person who was beaten to death for daring to be different.[5]
Greyston had many guest-starring roles on Smallville, Flash Gordon, Stargate Universe, SyFy Network’s Sanctuary and FOX’s Fringe. He had a supporting lead role on the feature Lost Boys: The Tribe, and the lead role in Slap Shot 3:The Junior League.
In August 2006, Greyston was tapped for a role on HBO Canada's Durham County starring Hugh Dillon. In 2008, he was nominated for a Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for his role as Ray Jr. the show.
Beyond acting, Holt is actively plays guitar and sings in a rock blues band. He enjoys writing and recording music as well as playing a variety of sports, including snowboarding, volleyball and soccer.[6]
