Jafar:What exactly have you brought me?
Jabberwocky: A parting glance. Those belong to the genie's previous master.

Jafar and the Jabberwocky src

Eyeballs are a magical ingredient featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. They first appear in the third episode of the spin-off.

History

Before First Curse

Robin Hood and his men invade the Forbidden Fortress while Maleficent is away in order to steal gold for poor villages. Among them is a young man named Will Scarlet. As the thief enters a corridor, he finds a jar filled with eyeballs and is shocked when one of them looks at him. He then proceeds to steal a looking glass that he finds inside a cupboard. When Maleficent notices the object missing, she makes a threat upon the thieves of the consequences, but Will escapes from the Enchanted Forest. ("Forget Me Not")

Sent out by Jafar to locate a genie bottle, the Jabberwocky discovers the genie's last owner dead. As the girl, Lizard, died with her eyes open, the Jabberwocky gouges them out and takes them to Jafar. When he unwraps the bloody cloth to reveal the pair of eyeballs, the sorcerer asks the Jabberwocky what she's brought him and she explains that they belonged to the genie's previous master, who died before she had the opportunity to question her. She tells him that she assumed that a sorcerer like Jafar would find a way to make the eyeballs useful. He then proceeds to place the eyeballs in a bowl and pour a liquid into it. Waving his serpent staff, he casts a spell to see the last person the eyes saw, revealing an image of the Red Queen. ("Dirty Little Secrets")

After Third Curse

Mr. Gold comes to the Underbrooke pawnshop looking for his father and finds a note Peter Pan left for him, which gives him free rein of the shop. He takes a jar containing an eyeball and pours it into his hand, examining it for a moment, before he dumps it into the cauldron along with some other ingredients. He then harnesses a crystal ball and directs it to find his son Neal, not knowing the latter has already moved on to a better place. Since he specifically wants to see his child, the crystal shows him Belle in Storybrooke instead, cluing him in on her unknowing pregnancy. ("Devil's Due")
