Fairytales are only valuable if you see them as metaphor in your life and the world. Slay YOUR own dragons. Much love to the 'Once' fans.

Eion Bailey is the American actor who portrays August Booth and Pinocchio (Wish Realm) on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Biography

Eion Francis Hamilton Bailey was born on June 8, 1976[1] and grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley of California. His father owned a small airline service which flew people around the state. Eion tagged along on flights and his father gave him flying lessons after dropping off passengers. His first lesson was at the age of twelve.[2]

In high school, he played baseball with major league potential, but a dare gone wrong on the field caused his relationship with the coach to worsen. At future varsity tryouts, Eion was completely overlooked due to the previous incident. However, to him, it was a sign that acting, which was already a serious hobby for him, would take precedence over baseball. Trouble both in school and with the law nearly had Eion sent to military school. Such intensity didn't go unrecognized by the high school drama teacher, who enrolled him under one condition—he act in all the plays until graduation.[3] Then, Eion went on to study formally at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.[2]

One of his early breaks was as one of the leads in the short-lived television series Significant Others in 1998 which also starred a then-unknown Jennifer Garner, Elizabeth Mitchell and Michael Weatherly.[2]

Eion also had recurring roles on ER and Dawson’s Creek and done guest spots on Cold Case, House Rules, CSI: NY, Without a Trace and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.[2]

Trivia

  • Among all who were ever part of the main cast throughout the show, Eion is the only one not to appear in the final season at all.
  • His scenes in "Hat Trick" were cut.
  • Like his character Ben Mercer on Covert Affairs, Eion is a fan of the band Underworld.
  • Was included in the “Firemen of Hollywood’s Sunset Strip” charity calendar as an honorary fireman. He headlined the month of June.[4]
  • When auditioning for the role of August, he had no idea what his character's fairy-tale origin was.[5]
