The problem is that I'm living here, in a house full of dwarves instead of in my palace, with my father, as a princess, but I can't do that anymore, can I?

—Snow White to the seven dwarves and Jiminy

The Dwarves' Cottage is an Enchanted Forest location featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. It first appears in the tenth episode of the first season.

The dwarves' cottage is based on the location of the same name from the fairytale "Snow White", and the cottage of the seven dwarfs from the Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

History

Before First Curse

After assuming their duties to mine for diamonds, the seven dwarves begin living together in a cottage. One of the dwarves, Dreamy, falls in love with a fairy, Nova, and makes plans to leave during the night to travel the world with her. Before he can slip out undetected, Stealthy confronts him, which rouses all the other dwarves awake as well. His brethren, except for an unhappy Stealthy, accept Dreamy's desire to be with Nova and wish him well. However, a run-in with the Blue Fairy causes Dreamy to dump Nova, believing a dwarf and fairy cannot be together, which changes him into Grumpy. ("Dreamy")

Seeing Snow White suffer from heartbreak, Grumpy invites her to stay at the cottage to recuperate and move on without her prince. Later, upon hearing news that the prince's wedding is canceled, he rushes in to tell Snow White as the other dwarves look on in bewilderment. To his horror, she doesn't remember the prince, having taken a magic potion to forget her love for him. ("7:15 A.M.")

Under the potion's effects, Snow White becomes a cold and angry person, causing her dwarf friends to stage an intervention. With Jiminy's help, they tell her how her personality change has affected them. Sneezy contests that she brings in straw in the house when he's allergic to it, and Happy is upset at her for breaking his favorite mug, but, to both issues, Snow White explains things away without much care. In reaction to her response, Happy has an angry outburst, to which Grumpy points out how her behavior is hurting people. Grumpy tries convincing her she hasn't been the same since drinking the potion, but Snow White considers that it helped her forget and she is better off now. She then blames her unhappiness on the queen, who murdered her father and is now living in her palace. Jiminy reasons that she shouldn't be taking out anger on her friends, which she takes as inspiration in her decision to kill the queen. Later, Snow White returns, having returned to her normal self, and apologizes for her previous behavior. When she announces that Prince Charming has been taken by King George, the dwarves offer to go with her to save him. ("Heart of Darkness")
