Copper is a character featured in the extended universe of ABC's Once Upon a Time. He débuts, with his only appearance, in the fiction novel, Red's Untold Tale.
The dog lives with Amos Slade and accompanies him to the village market, where he takes an immediate dislike to Hershel Worthington by growling at him.[1] Later when Red turns up on Amos' doorstep to sell baked goods, Amos tries one of Red's cookies only to find it tastes terrible and throws it onto the ground. His dog eagerly gobbles it up and then looks at Amos for more. Surprised that his dog who is usually a picker eater enjoys the cookie, Amos buys a dozen from Red to use as dog biscuits.[2]
After Amos is killed by the wolf, Red and Peter discover the dog hiding nearby. He is dazed, but then catches a whiff of something before snarling and backing away, eventually taking off into the woods.[3] Peter adopts the hound and names him Copper after the replica cross pendant that he made for Red.[4]
