Colin O'Donoghue is the Irish actor who portrays Hook, Hook (Wish Realm) and Rogers on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Biography
Colin O'Donoghue was born on January 26,[1] 1981[2] in Drogheda of the Republic of Ireland to a Roman Catholic family.[3] His parents are Mary and Con O'Donoghue, and maternal grandparents are Anne and Arthur Dunne. Colin is married to Helen O'Donoghue.[5] On August 1, 2013, they welcomed their first child, Evan.[6] In May 2017, the couple welcomed their second child together, Millie.[7]
At 2011, at eighteen, Colin attended Dublin's Gaiety School of Acting[8] and completed the Two Year Professional Actor trainee programme.[9]
Colin's early career was mainly split between theater and television work in Ireland and the UK. At the November 2003 1st Irish Film and Television Awards ceremony, Colin won the Irish Film and Television Award for "Best New Talent" for his role as Norman Quested in the television drama Home For Christmas.[10]
Primarily, Colin has starred in Irish and United Kingdom movies and television shows. He also made a notable appearance in the third season of 2009 historical fiction series The Tudors as Duke Philip of Bavaria. He caught the eye of a Los Angeles agent from his appearance on The Tudors[5] that landed him his very first Hollywood movie role was in the horror thriller flick The Rite.[8]
From 2003 to May 2013, he was part of a five piece Ireland based band The Enemies. As a result of his Once Upon a Time filming obligations, Colin left the band to continue acting on the show.[11]

- Previously worked with Sarah Bolger on The Tudors episode "The Undoing of Cromwell" as Duke Philip of Bavaria, a romantic interest to Sarah's character, Princess Mary Tudor.
- Attended real exorcisms in Rome to research his film role's character as a seminary student in The Rite.[5]
- Was one of the final contenders to play Superman in the 2013 movie Man of Steel.[12]
- Favorite fairytales are "Hansel and Gretel"[13] and "Rumplestiltskin".[14]
- Favorite Disney movies are Peter Pan[14] and Winnie the Pooh.[15]
- Has a scar on his cheek from a shaving accident when he was three years old.[14]
- During his appearance in the Once Upon a Time episode "Enter the Dragon", Colin portrayed Hook as the disguised form of Mr. Gold.
- Is close friends with Once Upon a Time fellow co-stars Sean Maguire[16] and Jennifer Morrison.[17]
- For Halloween 2015, Colin wore an Oz palace guard uniform.[18]
