Bruce Blain was the Canadian actor who portrayed the Desk Sergeant on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Biography
Bruce Blain was born on March 8, 1966.[1] From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the D'Arcy McGee High School in Gatineau, before attending Charlottetown's University of Prince Edward Island.[3] Eventually, he moved to Southeast Asia in 1999[4] and lived there for 13 years.[5] Before becoming an actor, he worked as a salesman, a bar manager, a managing editor, an entrepreneur, a carpenter and a teacher.[5]
In 2004, while he was living in Thailand, Blain appeared as an extra in a Thai film about the Laos football team, making it his first job as an actor.[5][6] From that point, he booked scores of commercials and films in 2010 and 2011, including The Mark, The Impossible and the Malaysian film Vikingdom, starring Dominic Purcell.[5][6]
In 2012,[6] Blain moved to Vancouver to pursue acting full-time, and attended the Vancouver Acting School for one year.[5][7] Eventually, he has worked on such TV shows as Supernatural, Rush, Motive, Untold Stories of the ER, Riverdale, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and The Good Doctor.[5][7] He also appeared in many films, including Leprechaun: Origins, Rampage 2, and Lonesome Dove Church; and was also the Campaign Voice for Warner Bros. Games' Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.[5]
Blain died on May 15, 2021.[2]

- Acts opposite fellow Once Upon a Time actor Rose McIver on the iZombie episode "He Blinded Me... With Science", where Bruce plays a bartender who serves Rose's character.
- Has also appeared as another desk sergeant in the Legends of Tomorrow episode "Raiders of the Lost Art".
