Carabosse was the name of the wicked fairy in the Sleeping Beauty ballet by Tchaikovsky
She said "I prefer Maleficent" because Charming called her out her name lol, I doubt it was for any other reason.
She said I prefer maleficent because charming was like, "Where's the beast that reigns over this castle?" She magicked him away and was all, "That would be me. But beast is so harsh. I preference maleficent."
I was disappointed with the Aurora part of the flashback. Sure the flashback was to serve as a parallel to the main story, but still. Aurora gets that? Couldn't the writers had been more creative? Lets say all the flashback scenes are kept up until the Aurora point. As stated before, Sleeping Curses work if victim willingly accepts, but didn't apply here.
How it should've been done: So Maleficent enters the palace. She taunts Aurora and prepares to inject the Sleeping Curse. Aurora refuses. Maleficent poofs the parents in front of her. She threatens to kill the parents if Aurora refuses. Aurora accepts it, just to save them because she cares.
Seriously? I don't see how true love's kiss worked when Phillip kissed Aurora to wake her from the curse. It felt more of an arrange marriage type of thing in how the flashback of Aurora placed in a Sleeping Curse was handled... Unless I'm missing something.
I hoped a scene of Aurora's baptism with fairies and Maleficent. I hoped two episodes of Maleficent: "Enter the Dragon" is the episode wich tells the Maleficent's backstory and her relationship with King Stefan and his wife; the other episode, maybe called "Sleeping Beauty" or "The Spinning Wheel" tells the relationship beetwen Aurora and Maleficent and why the princess pricked her finger on the spindle of the spinning wheel. I hoped also in a forest of trees, brambles and thorns.
And I hoped a large importance of Aurora in Storybrooke when Maleficent comes. The bacstory between Maleficent, Snow White and Charming was unnecessary. I'm tired of Snow's backstories.
Yes that episode was awful.
It may be better to open a new thread about Mal, but she needs to get another background episode where her story with Briar Rose is told. Briar Rose is the one who pricked herself on the spinning wheel and was asleep for 100 years. Aurora was only asleep for 28-30 years?
However Mal must appear in another one where it is explained who the father of Lily is.

But why would Maleficent curse Briar Rose in the first place, was she not invited to her party (small joke)
