Beverley Elliott is the Canadian actor who portrays Granny and Granny (Wish Realm) on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Biography
Beverley Elliott was born on December 31[1] in Listowel, Ontario and moved to Vancouver when she was in her early twenties. She has a daughter named Sally. On the west coast, she was able to combine her acting and singing careers. Beverley starred in the Canadian series Hope Island and was a regular on Bordertown and Mysterious Ways.[2]
Beverley is a regular performer at the Just Singin' Round songwriters showcase as well as various other festivals, benefits, churches, and children's events. In addition, she has performed extensively in British Columbia Theatre, Arts Club Theatre Company and Touchstone Theatre.[3] Her singing career spans three independent CDs; Yellow Dress, a compilation of original songs and two bedtime children's CDs, Dream Child and Magic Carpet Ride. Her song Are You Listening won first prize in British Columbia at the CHUM Radio's national competition.[3] Beverley was a finalist in the 1988 Bud Talent Contest singing at the National Country Music convention in Toronto. She has opened for such major acts as The Oakridge Boys, Jamie Warren, Thomas Wade and the Waywards, and has sung with Long John Baldry, Kathy MacDonald, Jim Byrnes and Lisa Brokop.[2]
Some of her notable acting credits include playing the lead role as Canadian icon Lucille Starr in the theater sensation Back to You, The Life and Music of Lucille Starr as well as successful shows at Firehall Theatre, Blyth Festival and touring with the hit Mom's The Word for six years.[3]
Trivia
- Parodied Adele's song Rolling in the Deep at the Vancouver Union of British Columbia Performers Awards. Four people wrote the song lyrics; including Once Upon a Time co-star Michael Coleman. The song was reworked again for Beverley's 2013 Leo Awards ceremony performance of the song.[4]
- Her favorite episode is "Red-Handed".[5]
- Considers Rebecca Mader to be the funniest cast member.[6]
- Is friends with Once Upon a Time co-stars Anna Galvin and Philip Granger.[7][8]
- Has worked opposite Timothy Webber as his love interest on the television show, Hope Island.[9]
