and not on every instance of arrow feathers. |
Arrow Feathers are items featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. They first appear in the twenty-second episode of the fifth season.
History
In Storybrooke, Zelena creates a portal for a group of Fairy Tale Land natives so they can return home. Before going, Zelena says goodbye to young Roland, whose father Robin Hood has just passed away. Before going into the portal, Roland bestows a feather from Robin's arrow to Zelena and asks her to give it to her sister Regina, who was Robin's lover. ("Only You")
Regina allows Zelena and her baby daughter to move into her house. Zelena is busy unpacking when suddenly, she recalls the arrow that Roland gave her to give to Regina and begins searching through the mess of her belongings for it. Zelena can't find it, and while Regina tries to be understanding, she begins to resent her for losing the arrow. Later, she opens up to Mary Margaret about her problems with Zelena. Snow believes something else is bothering her, but Regina doesn't know what it is. Regina later tries to locate Robin's feather by using magic, but it doesn't work because, as Henry notes, she wants to find Robin when he's already dead. After Regina has a big fight with Zelena, Mary Margaret helps her cope and reassures her that things will get better and Regina chooses to believe that Robin is in a better place now. As they head inside the town hall, a red feather is seen falling behind them, landing on the bench where they just were. ("The Savior")
In the Wish Realm, Regina and the Wish Realm version of Robin, Robin of Locksley, are taken prisoner by Wish Rumplestiltskin. During this, Regina reveals to Robin about the other Robin's fate. Robin picks the lock to free both of them and gifts her a feather from his lucky arrow, so that a piece of the other Robin is with her always. Regina recalls how when her beloved Robin passed away, she never received the special feather from him that Roland gifted to her. But despite all that has happened, she still clings to the belief and hope that he is now in a better place. She then reveals her theory that, somehow, Robin lives on in Robin of Locksley. Emma proposes that Regina bring Robin of Locksley with her to Storybrooke, suggesting that the feather may be a sign that a part of the other Robin still exists. ("Tougher Than the Rest")Appearances
