Ariel is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. She débuts, with her only appearance, in the twenty-first episode of the seventh season and is portrayed by guest star JoAnna Garcia Swisher. She is the Wish Realm version of Ariel.
History
After Hook becomes an old drunkard and gives up on ever reuniting with his daughter, Ariel befriends him and steers him back onto the right path. ("Homecoming")
Years later, Ariel sees Hook, now cursed as Rogers, again when he summons her with a conch shell from his old hovel. Ariel greets him, noting that he looks slimmer since she last saw him, before attempting to launch her trident at the Dark One who is standing near him. The man, Weaver, manages to transform the trident into a miniature trident, while Rogers explains that he is helping him get rid of the Rumplestiltskin Ariel knows of. Ariel gives Hook a few drops of squid ink and tells him to use it wisely since many lives are at stake. ("Homecoming")
Trivia
Production Notes
- Although the water around Wish Ariel was visual effects, the crew had to spray JoAnna Garcia Swisher with a hose so she would be wet and it would appear real. According to the director, this was a little chilling for her because the scene was filmed late at night.[1] ("Homecoming")
Props Notes
- The trident Ariel is wielding when meeting the Dark One[2] is the same prop used for Poseidon's trident in the Season Four episode "Poor Unfortunate Soul."[3] ("Homecoming")
- The same prop is on display in the Dark Castle in "Skin Deep."[4]
